gnatshooter Posted June 2, 2014 Report Posted June 2, 2014 Local shop here just bought a half million rounds of .22. They have no limit on the amount you can leave with. 500 round bricks. However....like $75 a brick....but it's in stock. Current street price through the Credit Union 'swap sheet' is $55 per brick for .22lr. That price has been solid for about a year now. I'd guess a lot of people hoping to make massive profits over hoarding .22lr are going to come up behind the game.
planeflyer21 Posted June 2, 2014 Report Posted June 2, 2014 Stores here are still selling bricks for $23 or so. Sportsman's has started telling the hoarders to kiss off.
Cali_Ed Posted June 10, 2014 Author Report Posted June 10, 2014 Have it for 320 else where if anyone's interested here
gnatshooter Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 (edited) Stores here are still selling bricks for $23 or so. Sportsman's has started telling the hoarders to kiss off. It's interesting that stores are underselling the 'street' price. Maybe the thing is that stores sell bricks for ~$23 when they have it, whereas they're always available on the street -- at least here in Iowa -- for $55. But if you go Gunbot.net and look at cost per round for .22lr, you'll find some tremendous scalping is happening online. $23 per 500 rounds is 4.6 cents per round. Lots of online prices are triple that. The prices would go down if people refused to pay that much. But people are still buying at that rate. Edited June 10, 2014 by gnatshooter
shibiwan Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 Out here on the east side of Phoenix, there's like 4-5 guys who are regulars at Walmart buying up all the 22LR ($25ish/brick) and then re-selling for $50/brick. The managers in Walmart are just now starting to pay attention.

The managers in Walmart are just now starting to pay attention. There is an old saying attributed to Robert Heinlein to the effect that "an armed society is a polite society". As far as I've seen in the news, people are not assaulting each other over the merchandise when the ammo truck brings the goodies to WalMart etc. Majorly sux that people double their money from the truck to the street. But given the scarce availability of ammo, price-jacking at WM might only buy a day's worth of Marlboro and Jack Daniel's. It would be a life-style.
shibiwan Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 Heh... Jon had mentioned that "ammo day" at Sportsman's in Tucson is becoming a shove-fest.
