6132expert Posted September 30, 2014 Author Report Posted September 30, 2014 I was firing Winchester ( I think 185 gr). The barrel is properly torqued by torqueing and then loosen and repeat. With my DMR trigger almost reduced to zero weight on the second stage I know Im not anticipating anything. Maybe I just need a few more shots on the range and it could be the scope. I have not ruled that out at all due to it being mounted on a QD mount.
6132expert Posted September 30, 2014 Author Report Posted September 30, 2014 the only downside to my barrel is that its been duracoated FDE. but i'd be interested. shoots sub moa in my setup, and I suck as an operator :D The Duracoat is no match for my media cabinet!

See how 168's , 175's ,even 150' gr. wt.'s work out & the low setting on the trigger second stage may or may not be a contributing factor .
briflemn762 Posted October 15, 2014 Report Posted October 15, 2014 I have a Howa 30-06 I almost gave up on. Tried bedding, getting the bolt aligned etc, etc. Darn thing was stripping copper off the jackets like crazy - even after the shoot one - clean, repeat cycle for the first twenty and the shoot ten - clean, repeat for the next hundred. It'd shoot the first couple into the same hole and then start spreading them all over (and off) the paper. Finally got tired of it and did the Beartooth Bullets polishing routine on it. Problem solved. Now it shoots my hot hunting handloads into 1.3" at 200 yards and barely has any copper build-up after a full box thru it.
98Z5V Posted October 15, 2014 Report Posted October 15, 2014 Tubb Final Finish will fix a barrel that's stripping copper in no time, and it's easy to find. If you don't have a hand lapped barrel, that stuff will give you a match-like barrel finish by the time you finish a 20-rd box. <thumbsup>

It might be a better option for a gas gun tho'. I sure like the results I've had with the Beartooth system in my Redhawk and the Howa.
