I'm coming to the end of my 308 build and I'm going to need some glass to put on top of it! I plan on using it for deer hunting and bench shooting. Max range is going to be inside 500y, but I'd eventually like to hit 1K. I want a mil dot reticle, and something around the 4-16x range. I've been looking into the Millett TRS-1 but I've been seeing mixed reviews on them (more positive than negative) The scope I would really like is the Viper HS Tactical 5-15x44 that midway has (apparently exclusive to them http://www.midwayusa.com/product/183...-reticle-matte) The only catch is that its on backorder until August. I'm looking to spend less than $500. What do you guys suggest?

Yeah, I bought one of their barrels and bolts for my first 6.8 and was very happy with the accuracy I get out of it, so I'm pretty confident in their quality. I'm not sure if you mentioned it earlier, but what barrel are you looking at? -

I think they go for like $250, but Ben at bison did a group buy on a run of 10 barrels to get the word out on them so I grabbed mine for $175. I'm interested to see how it performs! -
[Case Damage] What part is crushing the cartridge?

Could be that the rounds are coming off the mag at too steep of an angle causing them to hit the barrel extension. Did you try different mags? Looking at the spent case in the front, the two dents look appropriately spaced to match the lugs on the ext. -

No, I'm using an 18" Bison BRX. I have the name of the place I'm going to send it out to somewhere, can't think of it off hand -

From my understanding, its kind of a crap shoot for accuracy with chrome lining. I know that if there's imperfections in the chrome, it can cause accuracy issues since the chrome won't smooth out at any reasonable rate. With the stainless barrel I'm getting, if I get good accuracy out of it, I'm going to send it out for melonite. That process hardens the surface without changing the bore dimensionally, meaning it will be an accurate barrel for longer. -

I've read that stainless will resist heat corrosion in the throat and bore erosion better than a standard 4140 barrel. -
I'd like to know if anyone here would be willing to loan me an upper receiver block and barrel nut wrench for a DPMS LR308? I just got notification that my barrel will be here Tuseday. Of course, I would pay shipping both ways, and throw in a little extra for the troubles. Normally, I'd buy the tools, but I don't plan on building another 308, and it doesn't make sense financially to buy the tools that I'll only use once. Reply here or shoot me a PM if you're willing. I'm fairly new here, so I don't have a huge post count yet, but I can link you to the 68 forums to show you positive feedback from previous transactions and involvement level on there. Thanks guys!

You can always get stainless bead blasted or coated -
I'm still fairly new to the 308 platform, but are there any fitment/ function issues ussing the RRA Match 2 stage since its designed for a ar-15? If not, I'll probably use that one in my build.

I'm really happy with the handguard I chose. It mounts up really solid, and the thinner diameter will really compliment the thinner barrel diameter I think. I found a guy selling a 308 version PRS on my 6.8 forum for 180 shipped so I nabbed that sucker too. Just need the trigger and optics and she'll be ready to rock! (well, Mags too..) -

Thats ok, in cali they need a button on it to remove the bulb <lmao> -
I was taking a break from framing the walls for my man cave, so I decided to do a little tinkering. While I was clearing my bench, I came across a leftover stock from my recent modifications, and a old ratty buffer tube. I was thinking about what I could do with it, and it hit me! You might call it a light bulb moment :o

Not completely, I was able to work the brush out of one of my bore snakes. Given, it was a .22 cal, but you might be able to get a .30 out -

I got the chrome carrier from Fulton Armory, and the bolt is the JP Enhanced bolt that will be coming with my barrel headspaced from Bison. The fit is decent, but I'd like it to fit tighter -

It fits pretty well, I guess I would say it's neither. the rail is raised a bit higher than a standard upper so you don't have to use a really high mount for optics. -

I really like the TM lower, so much that I want to get their upper to match. It has a billet-ish look to it due to their machining, and the finish is awesome. Its smooth like glass, but matte. You know how some AR uppers and lowers feel slightly abrasive, and will show a mark when you run your nail over it (but wipes right off) Thats not the case with this lower. I just put the fulton lpk in it with no real issues. The only minor hiccup was the bolt catch. I had to take the square corner to the grinder and round it slightly because it was rubbing on the inside bottom corner of the slot it rides in (opposite of the pin that holds it in) I don't know if fulton is to blame or TM, but its fixed now so I'm fine with it. I posted pics in my thread of it assembled if you want to take a look.
