  1. Just found a midway code, so I ordered: Buffer/ tube/ spring, BCM Gunfighter, Ergo with palm shelf, LP gas block, and gas tube. My list is getting shorter! Muzzle device, optics/ mount, mags, PRS, and Trigger. Thanks for that link, I ordered a FF tube from western, and was happy with their service. I'll have to bookmark them and be ready to jump on it when it comes back in stock.
  2. So whats the best way to get the carbon out while keeping the copper in?
  3. Yeah, I noticed that. I'm trying to sell that upper now to buy the TM...Hopefully it'll all work out. I'm very impressed by the quality of the TM-10 lower.
  4. I want to use their upper, now that I saw it came out. I bought a DPMS stripped upper from a guy on another board, which is what kind of sparked this whole project, but I think I was a little hasty on that decision. Its very nice, but I really like the one TM offers. Hopefully I can get mine sold soon so I can off set the price on the TM one. Here's a link to my build thread. Its not as extensive as yours, more like an into and parts list. http://308ar.com/forum/building-a-308ar/new-guy-with-a-build-in-the-works!/new/#new
  5. Well, It's coming along now, so here's a little update: I decided to change the FF tube I'm using to the 12" Apex. I'm still waiting on my barrel and bolt to ship, but I received my TM-10 (great looking lower!), carrier, and LPK (minus FCG). I'm currently shopping around for a good price on a Magpul PRS and need the buffer set up as well. I'm also waiting on midway codes to come so I can purchase the misc parts like gas block, ergo grip with palm shelf, etc. I noticed that TM came out with their upper, so I'm also trying to sell the DPMS upper I bought, which was the whole reason I started this project in the first place. Funny how things work out like that with black rifles HAHA! I'm thinking about a Gissell(sp) SSA trigger, and a comp from ARP. For optics I'm going to get a Millet TRS-1 and put it in a LaRue mount.
  6. I'm currently a Corrections Officer for the County Sheriff's Office. I have a little more school to finish up, then I'll be headed towards sworn law enforcement.
  7. Take a look at some of AR Performance's offerings. They have a few to choose from with detailed descriptions of what to expect when using them
  8. When guys reload, we usually put together a ladder load- meaning we start at a certain grain level and go up in small increments in order to develop a load that shoots well for our rifles. Whats with the 4-6 week wait on the TM-10? I just picked mine up from my FFL yesterday. It only took about a week to get to me. I was very happy with the fit and finish of mine. It also comes with the bolt catch pin and set screw to hold it in place, and the set screw to hold the spring for the rear take down detent in. It was a nice surprise to me. Sounds like we're in similar stages in our builds. I'll be paying attention to this thread.
  9. I've heard of instances where a customer had a weapon malfunction with one of his triggers, and he talked him through the steps to correct the malfunction and offered to take the trigger back to repair it if the owner wasn't comfortable with doing the work on their own.
  10. I'm looking to sell my stripped DPMS slick sided upper. I bought this used before I knew exactly what I was looking for. It it is in very good condition. Since I've had it, it has not been mounted with a barrel. I'm looking to get a different upper for this build, so I would like to sell this one to offset the cost of the new one. I'm asking $155 shipped O.B.O.
  11. Another +1 for Bill's work. I had him do a stock fcg by double star. I can't help but show off his work. Come to think of it, I need to send out another trigger to him.
  12. TM-10 Stripped lower, Fulton Armory Bolt Carrier and LPK, Apex 12" FF Tube, and a rifle length buffer set up for one of my AR-15s
  13. I have a polymer lower by PCM on one of my 6.8s. It has 6-700 6.8 rounds on it and 3-400 5.56 with no signs of wear or failure. I'm thouroughly impressed by it. I wouldn't discount plastic guns too much!
  14. Well I looked on Apex's website last night, and saw that there was one 12" DPMS pattern rail available. This morning it was listed as Unavailable...thanks to me ;D I picked up their barrel nut too since I needed one for my build anyhow. This thing is coming together pretty quickly. I bit the bullet on the shipping from fulton and have a carrier, and lpk (- fcg) coming thursday, my TM-10 will be here tomorrow, the bolt and barrel should arrive sometime next week. It's going to be looking like a rifle in no time! Thanks for the help!
  15. I'm new to the 308AR so forgive me, but what is the purpose of this?
  16. If its polymer, you could just sand off the excess material, as long as it doesn't interfere with function. 1/16" isn't much and wouldnt take much time to remove.
  17. I do like the Troy, but it seems like everyone has one. I may upgrade the rail on one of my 6.8s to that, but for this build, I wanted to go with something a little different.
  18. Yeah, but someone does that for other companies too, without charging a ridiculous amount. Thats what the money they add onto cost pays for, otherwise it'd be called "Shipping & handling & order look up & packaging & whatever else" The way I see it, the order look-up and packaging is a part of a job that's paid for by revenue generated by selling the product itself, not by jacking shipping prices. I played around with their shopping cart with different products and it seems like they have price-point based shipping, which works if all of their higher priced products were of larger size.
  19. I was just about to place my order for a LPK and a Bolt carrier, when I noticed that they wanted $20 for shipping?! These two items could probably fit in a small flat rate box for $5. The worst part is that they have the only carriers in stock that I can find so I'm at their mercy. I know everything with a .308 AR is more expensive, but shipping too? Get real :cookoo:
  20. I completely forgot about Apex. I really like their tubes, just thought they were a little pricey for my AR-15 builds. (Funny how that changes when you move to the large platform :o) Thanks for reminding me of them, I think thats the one. The only downfall is that it doesn't have places for rails at 3 and 9 on the receiver end, but if there's Kydex, there's a way! I think I'm going to go with the 12" model, I'm not sure I'd gain much with the added 3" for my purposes with this rifle.
  21. Hey guys, I'm just getting started on my build, and I'm looking for you opinions on which handguard to go with. A little info on my build. I'm using the DPMS slick side upper with the taller rail and a TM-10 Lower. I've got my Bison Armory barrel on the way with a JP bolt and the associated small bits. The barrel is a 18" Mid gas that measures .9" to the gas block, .75" at the gas block to the muzzle with the last 1.8" at .725". I plan to use a low profile gas block under whichever handguard I choose. Do I need a heavier duty gas block for the 308, or is the standard tear drop style fine? My intended use is hunting medium to large game at extended distances (450y max) and punching paper. I may try to push it farther if I find a range that has the capability. As for the handguard, I plan on only running glass on it so I don't need a rail on the top. I'd like to be able to have a rail section on the bottom for bipod/ sling, and smaller rail sections close to the receiver for QD sockets and my brass catcher (9 O'clock and 3 O'clock positions). So far the two I'm looking at are the JP and the JD. I know the JD doesn't have the rail sections near the receiver, but it looks so dang cool! 8) Does anyone have any other suggestions for handguards I may have overlooked? Thanks for reading!
  22. I am doing a review on Selph Arms new brass catcher. Over on 68Forums, myself and one other member received them ahead of the market to do thourough testing and a review. I head to the range this weekend to do some field testing, but I dont anticipate any problems with FTEs. It has about an inch of space between the ejection port and brass catcher opening to not cause interference. I'lll be sure to do some rapid fire testing as well.
  23. Any other locations for BCGs?
  24. I'm really active on 68Forums, some of the best group of guys out there for gun boards. I'm a member on THR, but theres a lot of people there that answer questions that were never asked. Since I started my LR308 build, I joined here and Snipers Hide. I like the smaller forums a little better. It seems like theres les head butting around places like that.
