    Got pork?

I see all these group buys on the forum, maybe we need a group hog hunt.
  2. I have found that WD-40 sprayed into the sparkplug hole loosens the piston if needed. And WD-40 poured or sprayed into the gas tank will burn while removing/cleaning out the old gas. I moved into a place where the lawnmower had sat for at least a year unprepped and got it running by filling the gas tank (which was half full) the rest of the way with WD-40.
  3. Of those three I would get the Springfield. As a counter argument for the alloy frame, you are getting this for a carry gun and as the day goes on ounces feel like pounds.
  4. Go with the 18.5" for hunting, it will be more than accurate enough and the 1 in 10 twist will stabilize heavier bullets. Criterion barrels are outstanding, highly regarded for accuracy even among people who expect sub-MOA.
  5. They say you can leave it on for three years on one battery ?! I read the specs and now I'm wondering if I should build something to put one on. Thanks guys, and I thought my wallet was getting over flinching when I went near it.
  6. Colorado was not always like that, then the Commiefornians started moving here.
  7. Carefully file off some of the metal under the clamp ? You will need to keep the file level and straight. The usual rule is remove about half of what you think you need to and check it. If it does not fit yet, remove half of what you think you need to and check it. This will keep you from removing too much.
  8. Which explains the Russian Spetznaz troops that will be in the US for "training". One of their exercises has them defending Denver International Airport. They would be more politically reliable, after all they have not sworn an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.
  9. The Republicans ? They are part of this too. Nixon asked the CIA if it would be possible to seize control of the country. The CIA researched it, and told him that with all the privately held firearms it was not possible. Six months later a Deputy Director "retired" from the CIA and formed one of the largest gun control organizations in the country. In the 1970's retiring or quitting the CIA was looked at as betrayal and resulted in a shortened life, but it did not in this case. George H.W Bush voted for the GCA 1968 as a representative from Texas, and imposed the import ban which he then made permanent and pushed for the magazine ban. He was also involved in the CIA, some sources say long before he became Director. Reagan supported several gun control laws. Reagan and Bush militarized Federal law enforcement, and worked to undermine the Constitution. As did George W.
  10. Do you still have this ?
  11. I have not weighed it but it feels like they were telling the truth about it weighing 4.9 pounds loaded. Scale needs batteries and I'm not swiping them from my sights <laughs> Sticks down 3/8 of an inch lower than a PMag From about 35 rounds on it gets noticeably harder, but still not too bad.
  12. The Big Brown Truck of Happiness came by today. First impressions: Well made (I'm a machinist and picky) One small thing so far, need to hold the mag release in while inserting it, there is no bevel on the left side like a normal mag would have. Balance is not affected. No range report yet. I can see that I need to step up my workouts, but I knew that already.
  13. I was about to say you are going to need wheels, but with the machine rest you better start thinking forklift. ;D
  14. 1911 .45 ACP Any quality maker, I'm not fussy about that. Second, Browning Hi-Power 9mm, maybe .40 S&W
  15. There is a new rifle company in Montana making an Ar type rifle in .300 Win Mag. http://nemoarms.com/arms-firm-rolls-rifle/ They also make a .308AR in titanium. http://nemoarms.com/worlds-titanium-ar-308-rifle-by-nemo-arms-100000/ And a regular .308AR http://nemoarms.com/nemo-arms/
  16. Okay, a couple of times I found a good enough deal to eat ramen noodles for a month, but it's not something I want to make a habit of <laughs> :cookoo:
  17. Not. A. Chance. The Colt SP901 does look interesting, but I think it would add to instead of replace what I have.
  18. With a free float tube your barrel does not flex when you sling up or rest it on sandbags. It does not matter if the tube moves, the barrel and sights are still aligned. The National Match shooters use free float tubes that fit under the handguards, to keep it looking like an issue rifle and stay within the rules. With a little work these can be fitted to a .308AR
  19. 3 pounds empty 4.9 pounds full I may need a lighter rifle
  20. There are free float tubes that fit under hand guards and will work with Magpul MOE with slight modifications. I like the looks of the Magpul MOE.
  21. Shoot the 168 gr. My next barrel will probably be 18.5 " and that is what I will be using. The 18" barrel is a good length for .308
  22. I'm conflicted about buying one of these. On the one hand three Magpul PMags will hold more ammo, and cost a lot less. And I'm a frugal sort about most things. On the other hand the very existence of these must offend anti-gun people and that is a good thing.
  23. Really nice <thumbsup> The ergo grip is what I put on all my AR's, I had planned on a different grip but got a rifle with one and that was it. My shooting buddies are the same way about them, tried mine and now they all want them.
