  1. Look up "filthy 14" a DI 5.56 carbine with over 44,000 rounds through it without cleaning. Well lubricated, but not cleaned.
  2. Build your own 3D printer http://www.amazon.com/Printing-Plastic-Printer-Technology-Action/dp/1430234431/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1347354590&sr=8-1&keywords=3d+printer CNC is already at the home shop level.
  3. The real use for a forward assist on any AR is if you should make the mistake of "riding" the charging handle when chambering a round, then you can fully close the bolt.

  5. Printing a barrel would be extremely hard, but making one the usual way is not.
  6. 3D printers get a bit more advanced and the whole idea of gun control becomes obsolete.
  7. WC 846 in stock here http://www.gibrass.com/gunpowder.html pulldown $100 for 8 pounds new $120 for 8 pounds
  8. Another barrel to consider is Fulton Armory, they use Criterion barrels, which are made by another division of the company that makes Krieger barrels, in the other half of the same building. They are button rifled instead of cut rifled. http://www.fulton-armory.com/barrelfatitan185nmmedss1x10936gasblock.aspx
  9. Depending on how important accuracy is to you, then you may want to reconsider the chrome lined barrel. The problem with chrome is that it tends to deposit unevenly inside the barrel.
  10. Another idea I saw on another forum is to drill and tap from above down to the adjustment screw hole and put in a set screw to hold it, without locktite, makes it easier to adjust. Maybe drill holes in the free float tube to access the screws ?
  11. So, is it an AR-10 or is it an LR-308 ? These are two different rifles.
  12. Watching Magpul's Art of the Precision Rifle, Todd Hodnett is saying that 16", or 18" or 20" makes no real difference, all will work to 1,000 yards. Makes me reconsider a longer barrel, maybe I will just get a lighter one instead.
  13. Here are a few things for the 5.7 http://www.fivesevenforum.com/viewforum.php?f=19 http://www.fivesevenforum.com/w/index.php?title=Reloading http://www.midwayusa.com/product/128497/berger-varmint-bullets-22-caliber-224-diameter-30-grain-hollow-point-flat-base-box-of-100 http://www.midwayusa.com/product/939819196/midwayusa-dogtown-bullets-22-caliber-224-diameter-34-grain-hollow-point http://www.midwayusa.com/product/974335/hornady-varmint-bullets-22-caliber-224-diameter-35-grain-ntx-box-of-100 http://www.midwayusa.com/product/520110/hornady-v-max-bullets-22-caliber-224-diameter-35-grain-flat-base-box-of-100 http://www.midwayusa.com/product/1165189058/hornady-v-max-bullets-22-caliber-224-diameter-40-grain-boat-tail http://www.midwayusa.com/product/918954/hornady-z-max-bullets-22-caliber-224-diameter-40-grain-boat-tail-box-of-500
  14. It has changed, the first time I saw it there were page numbers, now there are not... 5353_.pdf
  15. Years ago I worked for a company that bought like that, they made big money processing it for reloading. Yes the lifespan of the brass may be lower, but it is less expensive and if you lose it in the weeds easier to replace. Is that selling price for scrap or reloadable ?
  16. Well, I did have some "extra" money but then I came here :o
  17. Quote/ We believe that the right to own firearms is subject to reasonable regulation. /end quote What part of "shall not be infringed" is so hard to understand ???
  18. The real problem with this legislation is the $200 it will add to the price of each gun. The companies based in those states would no longer be competitive.
  19. Have you ever seen an off-road race truck win a NASCAR race ? Would you allow the sniper rifle to use a scope in the HP match ? Have you ever seen an HP rifle win a sniper match ? The main reason the 6.5's are the dominant caliber in F-class or HP is the large number of shots fired favors a lower recoil cartridge.
  20. Then again, if the .308 upper could be sold for a fair price ?
  21. Other ways to cure double feed problems are a heavy buffer or an adjustable gas block (or both) The trigger these rifles come with is a standard GI trigger, no worse and no better. Take some of the money you saved on the price of the rifle and buy a better trigger.
  22. Yawn..... Makes me reconsider whether to show mine when I get it done the way I like, will I see it cloned by some imitator company ? Worse, will people think that I copied them ?
  23. I saw somewhere that there are 20 other veterans held just like him in that same county alone. Who knows how many in the entire country ?
  24. Is it in such poor condition that it could not be reloaded ? It would be worth much more if sold for reloading. $2 a pound versus $8 to $80 per hundred As far as I know it is all brass, including primer components.
