  6. something similar happened at my home back in the 60's...my Dad had a black and white big ole tv mounted inside the wall in the living room...way beyond the times So one day after school I was babysitting for her... me and her were watching the Cisco Kid...she was about 5 years old...she had her cowgirl hat on and two six gun cap pistols strapped to her side...she was just standing there watching Poncho and Cisco...all of a sudden she didnt like what was going on...and before I knew it she drew, and launched her six gun right into the tv! it blew out the picture tube or rather it imploded...boom ...gone! Mom and Dad get home....and I got my azz whipped for letting her do that to his pride and joy! :) Wash
  7. Harley if you have a DPMS lower or one thats approved for it....get yourself a Nexgen upper...my complete rifle weighs 8 lbs 1.3 oz with Nikon m-308 scope and empty 10 round mag..... barrel is 16" and shoots sub moa...the softest shooting ar308 ive ever shot....building two more...this is the answer for hunting :) Wash 6 lbs 5.0z bare with empty mag
  8. Exactly ....the carrier is going too far back and the shoulder is smacking it....spend 30 bucks on a buffer tube/spring to get it going...and if that doesnt work you got lower problemos...I love Tubbs have some of them...but then again all my $hit works from the get go :) Wash
  9. Iron so lets start from the obvious here are pics of my carrier and then the opening diameter from inside the buffer tube at the mouth and then the carrier shoulder which prolly is causing the damage you there on the measurements with yours? the easiest way is to put a plain ol buffer tube on with a car308 buffer and a car308 spring ....if that doesnt work....you got bigger probs :) Wash
  10. Survival nope we dont prolly weigh the rifles until its built and then find out ...how did it get this heavy? Most first time builders have prolly already built an ar15 and dont realize what they will end up with weight wise in a ar308...until after its built...just like my first build...used a Super Sass barrel...oh my gosh...took it out twice before I got rid of it. The barrel and then the rail contribute to most of the weight...which is hanging out front...and then the stock... just putting it out there for the new guys on their first build...maybe if they are over 6 ft got big cannons for biceps they wouldnt care? :) Wash
  11. Survival yep you're right the 18.5 light is 2.4....still too heavy for my taste....my latest 16" barrel comes in at 1lb 12oz.. one would think that talkin bout ounces is crazy talk on barrels/rifles...but it all adds up,and for the new guys that build their first...they can have a rifle that ends up being not fun to hunt with, or even plink with....:) Wash
  12. Tool...you and me "dated" ourselves...ahh but those were the days! :) Wash
  13. nope doesnt do that....but it prevents carrier tilt as advertised....NOT <lmao> wash
  14. He forgot to mention what anal lube those corksoakers use....rifles my azz :) Wash
  15. Specifications Criterion 18.5" Medium weight contour, 2.9 lbs .... call it over 3 lbs by the time you put a muzzle device on it.... :) Wash
  16. :) no crap Blue ! once again....its always the "trick parts" that put you in the "trick bag" ??? Wash
  17. Yep..I didnt pay attention too close at first read....98Z is right....if the buffer face edges arnt tore up its not the problem with the buffer retainer pin.... for folks on new builds...one should pay close attention and make sure the carrier comes into contact with buffer as you close up the rifle....moving the buffer back off the pin...its only thousandths we are talking bout :) Wash
  18. Chase I believe its a Cooley brake :) Wash
  19. dpete you call that impressive? ??? here's a 16" brand new not even sighted or broken in with Privi 168 crap ammo shorter is better this rifle weighs in at 8lbs 1once with empty mag and scope....how much does yours weigh? :) Wash
  20. Yep it is! here's a quote from a post here a while back answering this problem "Your issue is a result of the buffer retainer hole being too far rearward. When the upper is closed on the lower the back of the BCG is supposed to push the buffer off of the retaining pin. When the firearm cycles with the upper on, the buffer should never touch the buffer retainer. You can visually inspect this two ways, the first is to separate the upper and lower. You should be able to see the buffer protruding beyond the rear of the receiver (towards the fire control area) where the receiver extension threads into. The second way is to look for the rear of the bcg pushing the buffer off of the buffer retainer when closing the upper on the lower. A light helps with this. If you really want to try fixing this yourself you'll need to try to extend the buffer retainer hole more towards the fire control pocket and then use a shim to keep the buffer retainer towards the front of the receiver. The hole is 1/4". ... end of quote a Tubbs cws will solve it for ya but your $hit is beat up :) Wash

  22. For hunting...go short and light...16" is good to 500 moa....these 308's become heavy before you know it...there is no reason to go 18.5"...my 18 is a safe queen...all my 16's get use...just sayin :) Wash
