OP has the wrong buffer spring we know that......a Tubbs might get it done hes ordered that...if that doesn't work a small increase in the gas port should do it Wash
-
Ok heres the blueprints for a 7mm 08......your gas port dia is the same as this one and the same gas tube length as yours.....confidential sources say that a standard buffer and a Tubbs flatwire spring is used BUT my source also sez the gas port could stand to be opened a bit more.....<<<<<< get it a pun please keep these dimensions just between you and me...okay? Geeeez how did we go off the rails? Well ive got complete faith in R4...ill bet he's got her going now ! Wash
-
DNP it is the same one she uses on my bunions...how did you know? Now that the bunions are smoothed out she's gonna work on the nails Wash
-
Way to go... So lets get busy on another! Wash

Wzrd why don't you take a dremel and smooth out that rough spot on the inside of your receiver? That would be my first thing to do.Second would be to use a plain ol buffer tube and buffer...you could even use one off an ar15 just to see if the bcg slides back and forth without catching. But if it were me I would send it back so fast it would make your head spin...ill bet it costs you some bills. Once you start messing with it you own it....If your rifle was working real nice before this....put it back like it was and get your money back from the bcg.... Wash so this quote is from lantec "The flared boss at the tail of the carrier enhances the BCG's position within the buffer tube at the time of cycling and allows for a flatter more controlled reciprocation of the assembly" ill bet your enhanced non tilt whirley dirly buffer assembly is not playing nice with the enhanced lantic butt flared tail....do you see the problem?...its the word enhanced....lol when a company really cant make anything on their own that is really something new....they rig up a piece and sell it as enhanced.....lol you are two for two my brother Wash since ive run out of $hit to do I researched the lantac for you here ya go...read all the way to the end of the posts...could be the tricky dicky rounded cam pins relationship to carrier/bolt ? do these m4 guys know anything? hell if I know....they do think nib is from satan....lol....those ol farts http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?160543-LANTAC-Enhanced-BCG

DD Screw the head space gauges.....here's the best way to test your piece. Go to your local rifle range...Im sure you have one with an Ahole range officer that knows everything and treats everyone like crap? So you go there get your table all set up and then go tell the range officer you know nothing about this weapon and would he show you how to use it ?...He will be more than happy to fire your rifle for you....just stand a few feet behind him on the first shot.... Wash we have had folks post with the same exact problem.....and getting mostly the same answers from the mfg......go shoot the rifle

Why don't you just wait on the drilling and ill send you my AR 308 super bit? Wash
-
Exactly If it were me I would go straight to the #45 .0820 has never let me down....lol The drilling aint nuthin...hell I don't even use my drill press.....you cant fuk up an Excaliber....it comes that way from the factory ....just kidding....Ha these thin barrels are bout as hard as a soft stick of butter.....put the bit in the chuck and go for it....you will feel the bit clear the inner even before you see wood chips.....you don't wanna see wood chips....lol Ray Charles could do this Wash
-
R4 you don't even need a drill press for this...just have a wooden dowel in the barrel so you don't hit the other side drill with a #45 and a 308 car spring...that just might be all you need if Tubbs is out go here https://www.larue.com/products/tubbs-buffer-spring-ar10-sr-25-buffer-springs/
-
R4 since you are prolly gonna develop a load for your rifle this creates another problem because of the bullet weights and the burn rates of powders.....I see an adjustable gas block in your future....but first and foremost lets get a 308 car spring in there....if it were me I would spend the 9 bills for a standard ar308car buffer spring, but have a Tubbs flatwire car spring on the way...it will help most all of your cycle probs . you cant mess up he sells a spring that fits a car or rifle same one.......I do see a lil drilling in your future...easy peasy...your port size is too small......always wanted a 7mm 08 Wash always start one round in mag...shoot itand then check to see if if the catch holds.... R4 welcome to the forum from Texas Wash heres some pics standard mil car buffer tube 7" an ar15 spring car vs a 308 car spring yours is too short these pics no particular order....lol standard car buffer length but you can get em heavier heres a heavier buffer but same 2.5 length .... with a rifle length gas system you have you are prolly undergassed.....all of my 308's are mid length and ive had to drill em out sometimes myself....xcaliber has no clue as to what size your barrel needs....ask JT about that....lol...... bit #45 is a good start .0820 but it will prolly need a lil more like a #43 .0890 but before you start drilling get the right spring and make sure you have the correct buffer too also check to make sure your gas block port is centered over the gas port hole on the barrel and you are getting the flow to the gas tube....make sure your gas tube is aligned to the bcg and charging handle...but I think its a mismatch spring...and undersized port....put a wooden dowel in the barrel and get you the numbered drill bit...the dowel protects the barrel from you going too far to the other side....hmmmmm lyrics from a song poppin up in my head..... So geeez...wait a second....so do I need to go and remove all of my AR15 mag catches and buttons from my AR308's? I must have done something wrong cause my ar15 mag catch threads are almost flush with the mag release buttons Wash -
DPMS G2 Recon - Bad Ammo?
washguy replied to ImpliedConsent's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
Consent Well that just suks ! so now what? "We have found that Hornady, Nosler and certain other types of ammo have weak primers and behave poorly in semi-auto platforms. Avoid these in your GII rifle " They don't have that warning in their DPMS G1 rifle..... Hornaday ? Nosler? and then theres the "certain other types of ammo" I would want my money back on that statement alone Wash -

BURGLARY IN FLORIDA (You just can't make this stuff up!!) When southern Florida resident Nathan Radlich's house was burglarized recently, thieves ignored his wide screen plasma TV, his VCR, and even left his Rolex watch. What they did take, however, was a white box filled with a grayish-white powder.. (That's the way the police report described it.) A spokesman for the Fort Lauderdale police said that it looked similar to high grade cocaine and they'd probably thought they'd hit the big time. Later, Nathan stood in front of numerous TV cameras and pleaded with the burglars: 'Please return the cremated remains of my sister, Gertrude. She died three years ago.' The next morning, the bullet-riddled corpse of a local drug dealer known as Hoochie Pevens was found on Nathan's doorstep. The white box was there too; about half of Gertrude's ashes remained. Scotch taped to the box was this note which said: "Hoochie sold us the bogus blow so we wasted Hoochie. Sorry we snorted your sister. No hard feelings. Have a nice day." And you thought California was the land of fruits and nuts.
