Spot on observation Jim...... This action, plus all the executive orders signed into law by past presidents, leaves the door wide open for someone to come in and establish a dictatorship and there is nothing we can do about it short of revolting. This is what PATRIOTISM is all about! <thumbsup> Without the protections set in place by the Constitution, and allowing this incident to set precedence, by utilizing my God given right of free speech and assembly I could get "wacked" or rendition ed away to Gitmo for disagreeing or protesting against our beloved establishment. 8) Did the CIA asset al-Awlaki deserve to die? Probably so, but let's not allow the fabric of our society to become meaningless in the process.

+1 "This great danger that hovers over America is unrecognized by the majority of the people. When Obama announced before a military gathering his success in assassinating an American citizen, cheers erupted. The Obama regime and the media played the event as a repeat of the (claimed) killing of Osama bin Laden. Two “enemies of the people” have been triumphantly dispatched. That the President of the United States was proudly proclaiming to a cheering audience sworn to defend the Constitution that he was a murderer and that he had also assassinated the US Constitution is extraordinary evidence that Americans are incapable of recognizing the threat to their liberty." "Instead of seeing the danger, most Americans will merely conclude that the government is getting tough on terrorists, and it will meet with their approval. Smiling with satisfaction over the demise of their enemies, Americans are being led down the garden path to rule by government unrestrained by law and armed with the weapons of the medieval dungeon." "What do Americans think will be their fate now that the “war on terror” has destroyed the protection once afforded them by the US Constitution? If Awlaki really needed to be assassinated, why did not President Obama protect American citizens from the precedent that their deaths can be ordered without due process of law by first stripping Awlaki of his US citizenship? If the government can strip Awlaki of his life, it certainly can strip him of citizenship. The implication is hard to avoid that the executive branch desires the power to terminate citizens without due process of law." http://globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=26896

Good Prices on Bulk Federal .308 168gr Gold Medal Match - Where?
BR-549 replied to imschur's topic in Ammunition
CTD $19.66 http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ItemDetail.aspx?sku=67121 -
My long awaited setup: DPMS LR308 24" SS barrel Millet TRS1 scope Magpul PRS stock w/ magpul accu-shot monopod Geissel ssa trigger Harris bipod I sighted scope in a couple of weeks ago at 200 yds, using Lake City 7.62x51 150 gr surplus ammo. I was getting 2" to 3" groups at best. Bought a box of Federal Gold Match 168 gr BTHP to see what difference it would make. WOW is all I can say! First up is same 150 grain surplus at 100 yds. Was trying to guage hold under for that yardage. Found it after a few shots. Second pic started using the Federal ammo. First shot was using same hold under as before. Shot low, so put cross hairs on target and came up with this 9 shot group. I was impressed about the 3 shots in the same hole. Third pic is a second 9 shot group. I knew I pulled the one on the right when it went. The rifle is accurate, I'm not..... We weren't using the best platform to shoot from, just our own redneck version. We strapped a fold-up card table to a 16 ft trailer and put the jack down for stability and used a fold up dove hunting stool to sit on. There was still a lot of moving around. What can I say.....Poor folks have poor ways. <dontknow> There was a little breeze coming in from about ten o'clock. I need a little more trigger time with this rifle. I also need to learn how to slow my heart rate down to ZERO, because my scope would move side to side with every heart beat..... damn high blood pressure. :o All in all, I am very pleased with this new rifle and can only expect to get better with it.

My very simple motto........ Buy what you want, when you can afford to, while you still can!! <thumbsup> Just buy the damn thing and let us know how it turns out. :)
-
Congrats...... I tried the same, but with a frikkin iphone. :o I think I was one or two behind you. I think we both need a life!!!! <lmao>

I set my PointBlankZero with 6" impact area: 165 gr. Fusion, 2700 fps = 231 yds 100 yds = +3.5" 300 yds = -5.9"

Now there's an idea for a new chain of clothing stores..... "Chubby and Unkept". Fits me to a "T". This could be a money maker!! <lmao>

They were ok to deal with. Before I canceled my order with DPMS, I looked online to find a broker that actually had some in stock. I personally called Impact Guns and they said they had some on hand. So, I canceled my DPMS order and ordered from Impact on 8/19. They had promised on the site that orders taken on that day would ship on or before 8/29, so the after Labor day weekend, I had my FFL call and check on it. It was a good thing I did because they evidently didn't have one in stock and had placed an order from DPMS.............. :o My FFl then informed them of my problems in relation to the 4 month wait and all the rest, so they looked around and found one through Bill Hicks and Co. that same day. I believe in this day and age that inventory count would pretty much be a non issue, and follow-up on orders seems a little on the slow side, but they did find me a rifle and they did deliver it in a timely manner. I would do business with them again. <thumbsup>

WOOOHOOOOOOOO!!! After 19 weeks and 1 day, my LR308 was delivered to my FFL buddy. The next 4 1/2 hours waiting to get off work to pick it up are going to seem like .......................... 19 weeks and 1 day. :o <laughs> The sad part is it wasn't from DPMS, they didn't have a clue as to when they would be back to producing the 308, so I canceled that order and found one through Impact Guns. In case you can't tell, I'm pretty excited about it.

Well, I took the plunge and bought one of these. Here is my take on it. I tried it out on my Bushmaster AR15 first, as I still have yet to receive my LR308. It looks great, and is made pretty well. It's just a solid piece of aluminum that has been milled out. I pinned my upper in the rig and was somewhat disappointed by the fit. The groove is just a hair too wide, allowing for some rocking action side to side. It could be the pins are smaller diameter than the holes in the upper too. I'll check that out tonight. It will serve it's purpose, but considering all AR15 parts are pretty much the same size you would think you could get a slightly tighter lockup. The pins they sent were like what you would see on a three point tractor hitch (ring type), not that they won't do the job, but they don't have a way to keep them in place. I will look for a pin that has a locking type ball on the end or something. The part where you can lock a rail up works ok, the dove tail is milled the entire length of the block. This means you have to slide it on from the end. It would be a good way to work on the inside of the upper on any rifle. I thought I would try it out on several rifles and shotguns. If the front sight is too close, you won't be able to slide it on from the muzzle end. It will work on most flat tops, and I even got my Saiga 12 to lock up in it. It would not work on my WASR as I couldn't slide it on from either end (sights in the way on both ends). I give this product a 3 on a scale of 5. It will do what it is supposed to do, but for the money spent it should have been built a little bit better. By the time you add shipping you are spending over a hundred bucks, and a hundred bucks for a vice block with a lot of slop is a little steep to me. Update: It is the pins. They are a little small in diameter, allowing the upper to twist some. I will be looking for some new ones this weekend.

98, what would you think about adopting an overweight 50-something year old? :o
-
I sent an email to DPMS today asking why it was taking so long to get rifles out the door. Here is their response. "The reason for the delay it that we got a batch of 308 parts that didn't pass our QC. We are hoping to get the problem resolved soon. When we do we are going to do nothing but 308's until we are caught up." That's pretty vague, but i guess it will have to suffice......... for now anyway.

I have a Saiga12, and the plastic mags are not an issue. MD's 20 rounders are built hell for stout, I saw a video of him driving over one with a truck. Even though I love my Saiga, I would buy one of these AR type in a heartbeat if they were available here. I really don't believe we will ever have one though. I'm afraid they would fall under the destructive device category along with the AA-12. Some believe that the Saiga is not far behind in being classified as one as well.

98 - I love that sign! <thumbsup>
-
I hope it doesn't come to that..... but I may be able to cancel and just order the parts to build one quicker. :o
-
I didn't order anything out of the norm. I ordered a LR308 with 24" Stainless fluted barrel, forward assist/dust cover. I will build the next one myself. I figure they must be selling a poop pot full of them, which is good news as that means they will have a helluva time taking away our 2nd Amendment rights.

Day 110........ <munch> DPMS must be selling an ass load of rifles, that's a good thing I guess.
-
I see what he's talking about. The barrel and sights are rotated a degree or two clockwise from the receiver. I'll check mine out tonight and see as I also have a Romanian. Sometimes the stamped receivers aren't quite right. I bought a scope attachment for mine a while back and tried it out. The top rail part was pointing off to the left and wasn't even close to lining up over the barrel. Needless to say, that part was never installed. This rifle is only good for throwing lots of lead in a general direction in times of trouble, but I love to shoot it anyway. <thumbsup>

Who makes the best 308 mag loader?
BR-549 replied to BR-549's topic in Cleaning ,Maintenance and Tools
Well, I had to buy one to try it out. The NcStar speed loader works very well, with or without stripper clips, and is made pretty well. Looks like it will last a while. On another loader issue, I also purchased the Strip Lula for .223. It works fantastically and comes in a smaller unit than most loaders. Buy one, you won't be sorry. -
Sweeeeet! I got to have one of these.

Am I reading this correctly that it fits both an AR10 and 15? <dontknow>
