I never really thought I would live long enough to see this headline......

Just took one in Kansas. Our class had a very brief session on function and safety on both semi auto and revolver formats, then he read state statutes concerning legalities of carrying / brandishing a firearm. Learned the legal definitions of things like where you may legally carry or not, also learned definitions of manslaughter , murder, ect..... That lasted about 6 hours and was extremely dry. Then we talked about differing scenarios in which one may decide to pull/use their weapon for an hour before heading out to the range. Then we shot 5 rds at 3 yds, 10 rds at 7 yds, and 10 rds at 10 yds. 20/25 rds in the zone gets you qualified.

I've been looking at this Caldwell Bench. It looks heavy enough and is portable. I have yet to see one anywhere but on the net. This is a good price and I have seen nothing but good reviews. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00162PRPY/ref=asc_df_B00162PRPY1960607?smid=A317K0TMO7ND9M&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395105&creativeASIN=B00162PRPY&hvpos=none&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3807348470588807&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt= Here is another one, looks better, but is very pricey. http://doatactical.com/360shootingbenchhome.html

Hey guys, I just started reloading, and so far have only been using sierra 168 gr HPBT. The rounds I shot before were either Federal GM 168 BTHP, or Lake City surplus in 7.62x51. Being a newbie at this, with less than 100 rounds through the press, I have a question. A friend gave me about a half a box of these 150 gr round nose bullets. Ive never shot any like it through my LR308. My friend had a bolt action, and he used them for game. My question is, would they be ok to fire through an auto loader, or should I just pay them forward to someone else? They have a low BC, they like to go slow, and the book says the OAL is only 2.52. Any of you ever use this kind of bullet?

Things you need to know! "All laws which are repugnant to the Constitution are null and void." Marbury Vs. Madison, 5 US (2 Cranch) 137, 174, 176, (1803). "Where rights secured by the Constitution are involved, there can be no rule making or legislation which would abrogate them." Miranda Vs. Arizona, 384 US 436 p. 491. " An unconstitutional act is not law; it confers no rights; it imposes no duties; affords no protection; it creates no office; it is in legal contemplation, as inoperative as though it had never been passed." Norton Vs. Shelby County 118 US 425 p. 442 The treasonous assholes that pass this crap ( Patriot Act 1 & 2, NDAA, ect ) know it is unconstitutional (illegal), but they pass it anyway because they know that 98% of the dumbass people in this country, not knowing (or caring) what the law of the land says, will just follow along with it without a single question. Non compliance on the personal level and nullification of these bullpoopy "laws" on the state level are how we defeat this poop. And on a side note, I most certainly do not support the usurper posing as our POTUS, but these bullpoopy Exec Orders were written by Presidents before him as well.......... just saying.

No matter the cost, it is a great force multiplier.

Who makes the best 308 mag loader?
BR-549 replied to BR-549's topic in Cleaning ,Maintenance and Tools
Robocap, This gets old after a few mags, plus I wont even try to load a beta c mag that way.... that's just silly. For all who care, the .308 ncstar loader works well, I bought one and it does what its supposed to. For those of you with ar15s, the strip lula is the bomb. It works great. -
RON PAUL IN 2012!!!! <thumbsup> It shoulda been him in 08, but i digress... <dontknow>

Have you ever gotten powder on your donut? <lmao>

You can vote in all the new meat you want, but unless you vet them first by using the Constitution and Bill of rights as the litmus, we will keep getting more of the same........ .......... and until we start prosecuting and jailing the likes of Corzine, Madoff, Holder, and all of their ilk, things won't change.

I think you have created an awesome site to cover the platform. The boards aren't a jumbled up mess, and the members are all friendly, the more experienced are eager and willing to share their knowledge in their areas of expertise. I am very thankful I stumbled upon it, as it has helped me greatly. Thanks Drew, and thanks to all the members as well.

Looking to buy a lr-308 or lr308B
BR-549 replied to 12ptdroptine's topic in DPMS LR-308 | Bushmaster 308 Pictures
Is my LR308 heavy? It sure as hell is! 13+ lbs. Would I want to trade for shorter barrel? No, I like it and plan to build another upper with a shorter barrel length. -
Wall Street Buys Up Guns The Daily Bell Thursday, December 8, 2011 Mystery company buying up U.S. gun manufacturers … Some gun enthusiasts have claimed that the power behind the company is actually George Soros, the hedge-fund billionaire and liberal activist. Soros, these people have warned, is buying U.S. gun companies so he can dismantle the industry, Second Amendment be damned. The chatter grew so loud that the National Rifle Association issued a statement in October denying the rumors. “NRA has had contact with officials from Cerberus and Freedom Group for some time,” the NRA assured its members. “The owners and investors involved are strong supporters of the Second Amendment and are avid hunters and shooters.” Soros isn’t behind the Freedom Group, but, ultimately, another financier is: Stephen Feinberg, the chief executive of Cerberus. Cerberus is part of one of the signature Wall Street businesses of the past decade: private equity. – New York Times Dominant Social Theme: It’s just business, nothing more to it. Free-Market Analysis: Another subdominant social theme? It’s always the same. The Anglosphere power elite is on its way to buying up all the oil, water and farmland in the world (with or without China), or so it seems, and we are told it is the evolution of the free-market economy. Sure … And now … guns. Not George Soros, mind you. Read the rest here: http://thedailybell.com/3327/Wall-Street-Buys-Up-Guns

7.62 ammo in a DPMS 308 barrel
BR-549 replied to toshu's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
I only have put 300 rounds through it so far, with 100 of them being 308 match grade, the other 200 were surplus Lake City 7.62 x 51. I have run a few mag of the DAG through it, but had no problems chambering or extracting at all. -
Maybe this pic will help explain better. We had it locked in a sled. First shot the cheap stuff to get close to zero and check grouping, 3 shots marked cheap in pic are after about six rounds fired. We also ran a snake through it every other round. Changed to Hornady, no adjustment to scope, 3 shots high and right (one out of picture) from previous (8" between groups), but they were not stable... you can see it in the paper. We quit then because we didn't know what to think about the whole deal and bought some lighter bullets. Next day was shots 1,2,3 and 4 using a 95 gr, see pic on original post. That perfect line made me think the scope was moving, ... or broke. As far as the rifle goes, it has what they call an accu-stock, it is a free floating barrel, so to me it has to be the scope. When we looked at target closer, it became obvious that the boat tail Hornady was not stable, so that would explain the huge distance between the first two brands of shells. I think we will look at the mounts first, and then maybe swap out scopes from another rifle to check it out. He also bought the same rifle in .308 a few weeks ago, and that thing is a tack driver. We had it setup and zeroed at 200 yds easily, and were able to duplicate our results at our next shoot.

7.62 ammo in a DPMS 308 barrel
BR-549 replied to toshu's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
Here is link to PC software. http://ontargetshooting.com/ The DAG shoot fairly decent, they are dirty as hell though. -
My buddy bought a new Savage .243 bolt action and put a Redfield 4-12/40mm scope on it. We took it out to sight it in and the first time he tried with two different cartridges, both at 100 gr. One was a cheap Serbia made sp, the other was a Hornady BTSP. I could not believe the difference between the two bullets. The cheapos shot closer to aim point than the Hornadys. There was about 8" between the two groups, so we couldn't figure out what the deal was until we looked close at the target. The Hornadys were wobbling, you could see the elongated hole in the paper. Our first thought was too heavy of a bullet. His rifle has 22" barrel with 1/9.25 twist. Went and bought some lighter rounds and tried the next day again..... then we got this action. 4 shots, each walking down and left. They are numbered in this pic in order of fire. I say loose mounts but he swears up and down they were tight.. I dunno. Somethings moving. What do you guys think?

7.62 ammo in a DPMS 308 barrel
BR-549 replied to toshu's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
I shot a few of the DAG Sunday to see how they grouped. They actually grouped better than I thought they would. 5 shot group at 100 yds sub moa. My scope is dialed in with federal gold match 168 gr BTHP at 200 yds. -
Considering a DPMS LR-308. Opinions?
BR-549 replied to SOCOM1's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
I bought one this summer and love the way it shoots. Sub moa @ 200 yds with federal gold match Sierra 168gr BTHP. The only drawback i have is it is really heavy. My rig weighs in at about 13 lbs. -
7.62 ammo in a DPMS 308 barrel
BR-549 replied to toshu's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
I am using Lake City M80 (147 gr) as my main plinking round. Shoots about 2" groups at 100 for me. I have also shot DAG, but not many rounds of it. As far as Jlbell's not firing, I also installed a Geissele SSA trigger group in my LR308. I believe the hammer hits the pin harder...different spring and lighter hammer.... maybe that's why he had fire problems. <dontknow> -
7.62 ammo in a DPMS 308 barrel
BR-549 replied to toshu's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
My LR308 is chambered in 308. I have shot 150 gr 7.62 x 51 surplus with no problems, but they are not as accurate as that Sierra 168 gr BTHP. That is one accurate round.
