  1. Ok. Check out the off-set axles on that FC Jeep. Jon
  2. Jon
  3. FNX-45..."Club of One" <laughs> They make threaded barrels for the XD/XDM. Just get one already! Jon
  4. Wow...I thought I was sick with 4 XD series pistols. <laughs> What ever you do, when you can't sleep or when you're just surfing around the internet, do NOT go here: http://www.pistolgear.com! I know those Springer Precision are popular with the comp shooters. I really like that Powder River Precision on my 5.25...did we shoot that New Years? Something in my head keeps saying "Wifey needs an XDM in 9mm...buy it! Buuuuyyyyyyy iiiiiiiiiiT!!!!" >:D The 4.5 was used when I got it and it is FAR heavier than the 5.25 with the slide relief. The stock sights are half replaced with Heine Straight-8s with tritium. It is said they are the hardest sights to replace...truth. The best success has been reported by using an arbor press to push them out, especially the front. My daily carry is the 3.8 with the Pierce pinky grip extender. This one has by far the most through it of the .45s (the 9mm is run constantly by students...and me, not even a clue how much has been shot through it). It is bone stock and has around 3,000 rounds eaten up. The most recent loads were some Frankenstein pills, 255gr RNL cowboy poppers. When they hit steel they hit HARD. <laughs> My buddy said he worked up some 300gr .45acp loads and would find the data for me. I'm sorry bro...you were saying how bad you got it. Please continue. <lmao> Jon
  5. :o And that single statement resurrects a 35 year dream... Jon
  6. Nice cliffg! Jon
  7. Nope. That 1911 grip everyone likes is shoved forward to cycle the bolt. Here's a pic of the lever in the forward position: http://www.marlinowners.com/forum/black-rifles/45646-lever-action-ar15-now-ive-seen-all.html Jon
  8. No bulge...straight as can be. I suppose it may be possible that it fired out of battery, leading to the case rupture. Instead of a ogive that is constantly radiused on the bullet, there are two rounded and fairly similar poundings on the jacket. If you look at the squib photo, you can see how the base was canted. Never seen anything like it. I have a friend's Colt sitting in the safe, barrel bulged like a cartoon snake from a squib. Also have a 1911 Kimber barrel that was squibbed, bulged and split. Jon
  9. Totally converted to a manual lever-action. There is a pretty good British membership represented on Marlin Owners, as lever-actions are one of the few rifles they may own. Restrictions are ungodly ridiculous! Prices and red tape are exceeding. Jon
  10. No kidding! We had just gone through a big production, the shooter wanted to try shooting with their tiny reading glasses. Made them put on the big ol' honkin' safety covers that go over eyeglasses. Then POW!! I'll get better pics of the bullet later. It looks like the one prior was a squib and this one pounded it out. Even though .380s are midget-sized low pressure, I was impressed that there was no damage to the blow-back Bersa. They gave me the case and bullet for future classes. <thumbsup> Jon
  11. Two places to file if you have fitment issues with the Thermolds...the front guide tab (if the mag doesn't fit) and the locking tab on the right-rear of the magazine. Filing the bottom of the locking tab, besure to keep your file square to the magazine body!!! Your objective is to raise the bottom of the tab, allowing it to engage the magazine release. When you get to the point where your magazines will CLICK in place, stop filing. Plastic files VERY VERY easily!! I fit 15 of these magazines (from RRA) and they averaged 4 strokes with the file but took as many as 7 or 8. Good luck! Jon
  12. Good thing too! A student brought out their pistol to the range, an older model Bersa .380 semi-auto. The ammo was close to 30 years old or so, not that it should make a difference. Looked like a FTE but with a mangled case. Field stripped the Bersa...no issues on it, no cracks, no bent steel. Bullet stuck in the barrel. We were able to push the stuck bullet out...which looks like it may has slammed into another bullet. Unburnt, green powder in the action too. Be safe! Jon
  13. That's what others have said! <laughs> Time to put in a call to Esmerelda! 8) Jon
  14. <laughs> http://www.southern-gun.co.uk/?page=items&cat_id=1&item_id=33 That'll go well with Robo's cowboy hat! Jon
  15. Cool! That has the Benelli inertia system, right? Jon
  16. If my wife ever reads that, I'll have a new nickname. Jon
  17. Funny how .45 just won't go away. <thumbsup> Jon
  18. Hemi, that is rough. But I understand your relief. Jon
  19. Lucky! <laughs> Jon
  20. Only if your nose is against the muzzle! Wait a minute. How do you know what ass smells like? <laughs> Jon
  21. Got started on the Dura Coating project today. Took a before pic of the stock, grip, and parts to be painted before sanding. I have half the handguard and all of the upper receiver to sand, then I'll post pics of that. Jon
  22. I don't need another caliber...I don't need another caliber...I don't need another caliber... Was also toying with the idea of converting a Ruger Deerslayer to .45 Colt. Why would anyone want or need a semi-auto carbine in .45 Colt? Just because... <thumbsup> Jon
