Nothing like a captive victim: <laughs> Jon

Glad you made it back alive! <munch> Jon

As I'm in the firearms and personal protection training business, things have picked up since the election. Firearms sales are balls to the walls around Arizona, people now feel they should probably get a little training too. I really hurt the business side going through the Japan MOE licensing earlier this year, essentially shutting down for 5 months. Now it's time to reap. Jon

Fulton Armory SS 22' threaded barrel
planeflyer21 replied to mharris's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
Bolt-shooters go a different direction with slower twist rates and heavy bullets...push the bullets faster. Be careful to stay within pressures. The ARs (so I'm told) will handle any load bolt-action rifles will handle, unlike the Garand-based rifles where loads must be oh-so-gentle with that op-rod. Jon -
That's the 3# gas block that came off the rifle. Gun porn strip tease! It's difficult but you guys are worth it! :hah: Jon

Urals are Russian made. The Chinese versions are of about the same quality. The best models are made in Ukraine by Dnepr, a little more modernized and better quality control. They also make them up to 850cc. My non-mechanically inclined buddy bought one of the two-wheel drive Urals. Knowing he is who he is, it was constantly down. If it wasn't the popping out of gear it was the electrical system, if it wasn't the carbs it was the oil circulation. Don't know if this is true for the Urals, but the Dneprs can use Volkswagen cylinders...bolt right on. You can also get a 2-wheel drive bike as a "kit", bolt it together yourself for like $3k the last time I checked. Jon

GAO Denies latest Colt M4 protest
planeflyer21 replied to imschur's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
What a dilemma! I despise the penny-pinching cheap asses at Freedom Group. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if some of their board pulled political strings to get this contract. On the other hand, screw you Colt and your abandonment of the American civilian market a generation ago. I'll buy a Remington branded M-4 style carbine just to spite your elitist corporate attitude. LAR Manufacturing Acquired by Remington

Dunt-dunt-dunt...another one bites the dust! Won't be long until they have half the arms manufacturing capacity in the United States. Jon -
Well we went out last night, so I was up MONGO late for me...almost 2300. <lmao> Still up at 0430 (so yeah, I slept in an hour). After morning errands and business calls, dry lube and gun parts started staring at me. Took apart and US cleaned the bolts and springs to three .22s, two rifles and a MKIII Hunter. While going through that, my tired ass said "Put that new YHM low profile gas block on Freedom Machine!" Pulled the flash suppressor, took the RRA flip-up front sight/gas block/picatinny rail off. Threw it and the stuck gas tube (what would fit) in the cleaner too. Left that in for another 15 minute round, while I rinsed the .22 parts. They came out better than new and sparkly! Had to really wrench the gas tube out of the old gas block, then decided to US clean the bolt carrier end too. While this was cleaning made sure the new LPGB fit well. All clean, mounted the gas tube in the new GB...twice ( :thefinger: ), then got the set up afixed, checked, flash suppressor reattached, then everything cranked down! Looks very slick, if I do say so myself! Pics when I'm done you porn fiends! Jon

<coffcoffbullshitcoffcoffcoff> <laughs> Hell brother, you had at LEAST half the board offer to shoot that for you AND break it in too! For FREE!! Some of them even undercut my bid, said they would provide their OWN ammo! <lmao> Get better bro! Jon

Yup, they're pretty cool engines! Seem to be well engineered. They've been working on certification for installation in production aircraft for over a decade now. When they get it Lycomings are going to be DIRT CHEAP. Jon

A better case trimmer. Jon -
I have had a couple of other shooting dreams. Many times credits run, like I was watching a movie or something. Far more common with me in the past were dreams about physical confrontations, where punches/kicks/stabs/strikes were ineffectual on the perps. Very frustrating. Most of these were when I was much younger. I did have one, not long after shooting my first Class 3 weapon in real life. In the dream I somehow had this specialized Uzi sub-machinegun, which fired penny-like projectiles (not unlike the toy guns that shoot the plastic discs) at many many hundreds of feet per second. Anyway, some bad people got into the house somehow and they tried to avoid me by fleeing into the bathroom, where I unloaded a roll of pennies into them, and they collapsed into the tub. Upset, I asked my older brother to call the police. He said he'd take care of it and started stuffing their bodies into trash bags, which further exasperated the situation. Somehow I left the house but still had the magic Uzi in hand. Dreams are odd. Jon

Rock River's Elite Operator is 9.1#s empty, so it should be easy to shave off half a pound from the AR platform. Keep us posted! Jon

Like sleeping nightmares? Occasionally. One I remember most was a confrontation that started with being robbed at knife and gun point, three people with two of them engaged directly. Drawing the 1911 that was constantly on me at the time, one started shooting and I was more than willing to reciprocate. The single most frustrating part of this dream was the realistic lack of immediate cease-and-desist on the two I was perforating. Very realistic, only took about ten seconds from start to finish. Had one recently but can't really remember much. Jon

Lar 308 Predator HP ammo question
planeflyer21 replied to 12ptdroptine's topic in Rock River Arms LAR-8
I don't have a Predator but both of my Operators (16" and a 20") seem to prefer heavier bullet weights. Not shooting for groups, the 147gr and 150gr also require a different POA to hit the same spots that the 175gr and 189gr bullets are impacting. Getting ready to do a heavy bullet showdown, reloading pills from 190gr up to 210gr, all the same brass and primers so it will be an even playing field. Jon
