That's some nice shooting bigt77! My Elite is tighter than the full-size Operator. Hard to beat those Nikons for price...don't get swangled into getting something "better", just hunker down and lear that one. Jon

Yeah, what MikedaddyH said. I had a bad batch of Win SPM, so I used them up and by no more. The stockpile currently has CCI large and small pistol and rifle, and some backup Tula primers that were mighty cheap...should probably use those first. Jon

Alright then, from reading here it looks like the AR308 may be fun to do some experimenting with handloads. Anybody messed around with heavy loads < 200gr in .308? I was looking at reviews on heavies on MidwayUSA...some look like they have some pretty impressive performance on game out to 500-600 yards. The roundnose 220gr and semi-spitzer 220gr look like they would be fun to play with. They even have a 240gr by Woodleigh! Jon

All I have on my truck is an American Flag window sticker. And, sadly, here in S. AZ that is enough to start poop with some folks. Fortunately they don't realize I'm armed until their ass is exposed. Jon -
Greetings Filthy! You'll have lots of fun around here! It's hard not to... Jon

More Florida zombie behavior! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2152940/Woman-caught-masturbating-highway-arrested-wearing-shirt-exposing-passing-motorists.html She bit one of the deputies. Be careful out there! Jon

Oh yeah...brass fun party! I've had new never fired brass that was short by that much on a couple of different calibers. I'm now of the opinion that with most semi-auto/revolver cases it isn't critical (unless your pressures are north of 40,000psi). That opinion has absolutely NOTHING to do with using a Lee hand trimmer to do a couple of thousand .357 Magnum cases. :tweed: Jon

That, Robo, and ballistically it is very similar to Super .38, which retains a high magazine capacity due to the straight walled cartridge. I also believe the bottle neck turns off reloaders used to straight pistol cases. Jon

If you were bold enough to view the photos of the victim in the emergency room, you may think that Hollywood's zombie movies don't do justice to what a real-life face eating looks like. aim-squeeze-recover-repeat Jon

I know your die instruction probably say screw the die into the press until it just kisses the shell holder (then if it is carbide back it out a bit for no contact). Experiment this: with the .40 S&W case in the holder, arm all the way up and case into the die, is the die making contact with the shellholder? I had a similar issue with a different caliber (not forming brass though) and found that the upforce stretched out all the slack in the assembly JUST enough to give me an issue like yours. My solution was to turn the die in PAST the "just touching" point (no, don't go ramming your shellholder into the die...just see where it touches, back down and give the die a little extra twist). Watch carefully so that there is no die-to-shellholder contact, if the "stretch" I've described is the culprit. If the stretch isn't the case (no pun intended) get to grinding! Oh yeah...are you annealing the cases to make them a bit more pliable before starting? Jon

One reason I don't have any stickers on my vehicles. Nothing like saying "LOOK IN HERE for the valuable guns that came with these STICKERS". I see some people that have stickers for every manufacturer that has nothing priced below $1,000. Jon -
Something like an apple-coring tool my Granny had...puncture, 1/4 twist, remove. Gonna have to core them frippin' zombies! Jon

Who saw 28 Days? Does reality mirror fiction, or the other way around? http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2010/10/1001027-rabies-influenza-zombie-virus-science/ http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/05/090504-rabies-evolution_2.html Notice these are a couple/few years old already. In 28 Days, subjects or staff working with new viruses left the lab where the work was being conducted. Notice in the first article the doctor they quote, Samita Andreansky, works at a university in Miami, Florida...where naked zombie dude ate off some guys face. Interesting also that the article makes reference to an airborne rabies as a "rage virus". Ok...ok ok! Now it gets REALLY weird! Ok! Another doctor, Rebecca Carley, claims that her research found reference to a rabies virus implanted in VACCINES, in a study done by NATO that was published in 1980. The out of print study can be bought here if you have the cash: http://www.springer.com/psychology/book/978-90-286-2851-9 Lock-N-Load baby! Remember...headshots are best! Jon

Imagine that! <laughs> Not long after I got out, those who went into the active reserves said that, while doing the SSN switch, they had to use service IDs to find records. <lmao> Jon

Robo, I would agree with your assessment for gas system lengths for any rifle system, direct impingement or piston. As there is no "mil-spec" for the .308 AR types, I like to get input from those with more experience. Maybe I'll just make a custom gas block with a permanently fixed bayonet with a 22" blade or so. <thumbsup> Jon

That does seem to be a connundrum, the providing of proof. When I was in we still had service numbers, as SSNs weren't in use except for enlistment. But they were still something that was to be held close, so to say. Jon

Is steel a name brand or a material? I thought gas blocks were all made from steel. Jon

So, after attaching a MBUS rear to Liberty, I had to crank the stock front post down so far that a good cheekweld is not possible (have to turn my head to get my eye low enough that the sights align correctly). Adding a MBUS front solved the sighting issue but now there is that pesky RRA front folder/gas block. Seeing that this is an obvious opportunity to get an adjustable gas block, I pose the question: What do my brothers here recommend? Jon

I don't know if it was just Tucson or the whole state of Arizona, who just banned sales of bath salts. The news outlets certainly had no shortage of video showing kids whacked out after smoking bath salts. Seems to be about a 10-year cycle for the appearance of certain street drugs, which cause extremely violent behavior. Jon

When I worked retail, there wasn't a rifle, shotgun, or handgun manufacturer that didn't have an example of each of their wares returned for poor QC...I don't care what you think of "Vaulted-brand A" or B or C. The lone standing example from a major manufacturer was the Springfield XD series pistols (their other firearms got sent back). The place I worked has now sold about 2,500 XD series. The only return was one someone apparently tried to hammer-assemble, which was stuck half-way through the process. Springfield voided the warranty and charged a couple hundred bucks to fix it. So, IMO, "good enough" isn't. Jon
