Just wondering, Im currently over in the stan and my unit has put together a unit purchase deal with the BDE crest on mag well. The price they are offering at is $1639. Ive scanned GB and noticed a wide variety of prices but any closing in short order are around the 3k mark. Is this an accurate going price? And for $1639 is it worth my wife possibly butt stroking me with it? Thanks in advance.
  2. I'm glad to hear you got a refund. I myself was on the verge (3 days to be exact). The shop I was dealing with while one of the employees was very condescending, the rest including the owner were very respectful. When I called and asked for a status they informed me that the delivery times were pushed out from the original 3-4 months to 5-6. After a quick "thats unacceptable, and I will expect a full refund if the agreed upon time of delivery cannot be met" they agreed. Fortunately I did not have to go through that, and to top it off, when I went into to pay the other half >>>they<<< realized they had over charged me by about $150 I ended up walking out of the store with the weapon for well under MSRP (original quote was already $100 below).
  3. Its alright, a pain in the arse to zero in as the elevation and windage are also on a 45 degree. Though it is a relatively very cheap red dot and I'm not sure if the recoil is causing it to "un-zero". I zeroed the glass to 100 yards and attempted to zero the red dot to 50 not sure if it still is though. If i can get a calm wind weekend in the next couple weeks I'm going take to the 400 yd lane ???
  4. RRA EO - Nikon 3x9x40 - Bushnell Micro redot - ::)

  6. Um, no they don't. But I have a barely used, almost brand new 3x9x40 Nikon BDC for sale $20 off new price (jk) if your interested. But here it is straight from the Nikon website. See the M-308 Review from the 2012 SHOT Show! Haus of Guns Reviews the M-308! The new M-308 4-16x42 represents Nikon’s Precision AR Optic technology for heavier caliber rifles capable of long-range accuracy. Designed for extreme sighting speed and superior long-range accuracy with the popular 308 Win AR platform rifles, the new M-308 4-16x42 features a choice of either the new BDC 800 reticle, or Nikoplex reticle and precise Rapid Action Turrets, each calibrated for the trajectory of the .308 Win/7.62 NATO Match round with 168gr. HPBT bullet. The high magnification range zoom makes it the ideal optic for AR10 platforms as well as for long range bolt action rifle applications. Includes M-308 one-piece mount, with built-in 20 MOA slope. http://www.nikonhunting.com/products/riflescopes/m-308 http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-8495-M-308-4-16x42-BDC800/dp/B007PXVS8S http://swfa.com/Nikon-M-308-Riflescopes-C4157.aspx Probably going to purchase one after I return from deployment and send the 3x9 to my 30-06.... or... get a new AR to put it on....hmmmmm 4494_.pdf
  7. I just found out Nikon has a BDC specifically designed for a .308, looks to be about $150 more. Not sure if it is a ploy to suck in more business, but I wish I would have known about it when I purchased this last one.
  8. KellyTTE, The third picture, is that just south of Fort Carson? Looks familiar I was out there a few months back and was RSO for a UH60 gunnery on an AF range just south of Fort Carson and Col Springs. Cannot for the life of me remember the range name at the moment.
  9. Welcome from another Floridian, Grew up in St Pete been traveling on the army's dime for the last few years. As far as the Zimmerman case, I'm not sure what to believe. In that I mean only that I feel I cannot trust any of the media (be it right or left) to provide the all the facts as I'm assuming they don't have all of them. Add to that the partisan rhetoric and it only frustrates me more. All that being said, Martin had the right at any time to call the police and state a "White Hispanic" (jab at the left media) was following him and harassing him. Instead (from what I understand) he chose to physically confront him.
  10. I went with the forward grip as I can not see me using a bipod anywhere but the range. Speaking of the range, finally got there today and put 60 rounds through the weapon with out fail. Brass had some minor, abrasion <dontknow> on the back around the primer and small dent in the shoulder. Not that I'm concerned but had heard other people talking about similar issues on the forum? The photo is of 8 round at 100yds Sellier and Bellot 180g Soft Point. 3 groups of 3-3-2 easily below the advertised 1.5 MOA and if I was a better shooter I bet it would be sub 1 MOA. Not sure why the picture is upside down, even save a copy upside down and reloaded it-still up side down.
  11. ironically my latest ID card has the new-old service number (that we are going back to to prevent ID theft) however every time I go to medical or personnel they need my SS to pull up my records :p
  12. A secondary method I might recommend is by email address. Someone with AKO access (Army email) can look up at a minimum active/guard/reserve across services. Determine status and validate with a reply email. Individuals not in the military can get these accounts also if they are sponsored by a military member but it is listed as such when they are "looked up".
  13. Broke it down and cleaned it today and took the extractor off the bolt, what a pain to put back on. Don't think ill be cleaning that far into the bolt again for awhile. Anyway, does anyone know if this http://www.gearsector.com/view/product/104/ will work with one of the holes on the stock on this weapon?
  14. Good point as I too noticed it is front heavy, I think I may go with the grip to try and keep unnecessary weight from getting too far forward.
  15. unfortunately don't have the cash for a good piece of glass right now. That is a 3x9 nikon hunting scope with the BDC reticle. Im on the fence should I go bipod or a vert foregrip that has a bipod ext?
  16. Well day 117 rolled around and it finally showed up. Over all very pleased with the weapon, heavier than anticipated but not unacceptable. Haven't had it to the range yet, only complaint so far is that the upper and lower receiver don't line up very well, very tight and noticed a little wear on the upper and lower receiver where they connect for the rear takedown pin. So tight in fact with the rear take down pin all the way out I could't get it to break open (I checked and checked I thought I was doing something wrong). Had to open front takedown pin and only with a firm grip on either half pull it apart. On re-assembly front pin went in with little effort rear took some pressure and coaxing to get it re-seated. Anyone else had issues like this?
  17. Just talked with the gun shop I'm dealing with. Day 105, had him call the RRA rep to check the status. Rep said, if you ordered one today it would be a 4-6 month wait. Problem of parts availability. If I were to do it again I would spend a little extra money buy off GB and have it in a couple days.
  18. Tomorrow, day 100..... /sigh
  19. I occasionally get to fly with some of those guys that have been in for 30 years or so and have 6 or 7 thousand hours in a helicopter. Usually a year or so before they retire and I'm always impressed, all of them have forgotten more than I have learned.
  20. Not sure if it belongs here or in the building a 308 area. I've read nothing but good things about the RRA Varmint A4 (thinking about the 26") Can I build something as accurate for the same price or cheaper? (not counting required tools into the cost of the build) edit: reading online, some say that a 26" isn't worth the extra weight. How much of a difference is there between a 20" and 26" as far as accuracy and effective range?
  21. I was actually flying in that pic doing overwater personnel recovery (hence the caving latter). I can only imagine, the fins on the back of those things are not very forgiving against unprotected thighs.
  22. Could I get this as my avatar?
  23. I purchased a DS M4 mounted an Eotech HWS and 3x Mag. One weekend I went to my dads property hunted a little bit and at the end did some target practice with the 5.56. Afterwards my father pulled my man card and said to me, "thats nice son I but I wouldn't consider getting one unless they made it in a mans caliber like a 308"....
  24. Thanks for the warm welcome. I fly the UH60 Blackhawk, the only "real" helicopter in the Army... j/k. I can only hope with the way we are downsizing, I get the option to retire. They are already preparing us, telling us that a lot of good officers aren't going to make the cut- no reflection of them or their service, just a sign of the times. I have a couple more years before my time comes though. As far as the VA goes, I have had a few good mentors that taught me to "get it documented" no matter how trivial the injury.
