  1. Army for the last 12 years or so, started as a ground guy now flying helicopters for the guys on the ground. Born in FL, Uncle Sam has sent me to TX,GA,AL,TN,KY,CO,CA, Korea 2x, Iraq, Afgan... just 8 more years then Ill be able to settle down, I hope.
  2. I'm around Clarksville
  3. Hunting, Saltwater fishing, scuba, camping, flying a black hawk (however since that is actually my job it may not qualify as a hobby), playing lotto and dreaming about all the guns I will own at least until I check the numbers, spending time with my kids-the wife too, cruises, BBQ (cooking in general really) I'm sure there is more.
  4. oh, it doesn't matter to me at all. I guess I'm just hoping that the wait times are still the same if not better than when the thread was begun.... still hanging in there.... and it was ordered 29 DEC 11 to clear up any confusion. So, I'm currently at 49 days as of today. To ease the torture a little, I ordered a new .357 exchange kit for my P250 to Carry, should be here in a day or two (much to my wife's dismay)
  5. (even though this thread is 8 months +) I ordered mine end of Dec 11 they said 90-120 days..... I can only hope it arrives in 60 but I'm not counting on it. I have a Burris (sp?) scope mount bought just for my lar-8 EL OP that looks identical to that one.
  6. Been trying to get her to understand shooting is something we both can enjoy with no luck - got any advice? I hear ya, originally I planned on living forever but I cannot seem to get this aging thing under control.
  7. Thanks, I'm okay with it continuing forever - I agree with the funds issue (I'm 34 and I have to save my allowance for personal purchases), however my wife on the other hand has different feelings on the matter.
  8. Hello everyone thought I would introduce myself. Name is Scott, originally from Florida with the assistance of the military I have found a new home in TN. I've had weapons all my life, started first when I was about three with a little red plastic pistol that shot suction cups, in the living room my father would call the firing line status, however I'm relatively new to black rifles, recently bought my first ar-15 back in Oct, and just recently ordered LAR-8. Glad I found this forum, it seems I have been spending a lot of time on here lately. Wanted to ask, does anyone ever get to a point where they are satisfied with the collection they have? or does this cycle of new rifle, new build, new load, oh yeah old rifles... more ammo, new optic, new safe, etc... continue for ever?
  9. Google showed me the way...
  10. no kidding didn't know that.
  11. Were you hunting with a .308 ar?
  12. That was hilarious, a very enjoyable read.
  13. I'm soooo jealous, Congrats.
  14. I will post some when the rifle gets here.... 90-120 days from order which was Dec 31.......I don't know how I'm going to make through the next 3 1/2 months as these last couple of weeks has been hell.. I keep surfing youtube looking for new videos of the elite operator, surprisingly there are not very many good ones. edit: and going to the RRA website, looking at all the pretties. The pic of the rifle replaced the pic of my kids on my desktop..... errrr.... 3 more months.... However I did mount the TRS-25 and Nikon 3x9 BDC scope to my AR15 and the adjustment knobs obstruct some of the view through the red dot... not sure if I will be happy with that.

    M1 Garand

Thinking about purchasing one of the surplus military through CMP. Wanted to hear anyone's stories that has done this. What grade, manufacture, condition it was received and thoughts (would they do it again, are you satisfied with the rifle etc..). -Scott
  16. with out hijacking the thread - my question is, could I use say the Rock Chucker kit to reload .458 socom one day when I acquire that platform? will this press load everything I can buy a die for? (I don't know that I will ever by a progressive as I'm concerned less with quantity and more with precision-the pleasure of loading my own - and saving money/shooting more)
  17. Just an update for anyone who was interested. The more I thought about it I agree the eotech would be to heavy hanging off center. So I went with the very reasonably priced Bushnell TRS-25 red dot and a 45 degree pic mount. Thanks again for the suggestions.
  18. I've never used either one, so strictly from opinion and judging by the looks, the PRS looks like it is a much sturdier product. The PRS has to be modified? I'm assuming it has something to do with the RRA commercial spec buffer tube? if so what is the fix for that?
  19. Thanks for all the options, hmmm so many options I going to have to think about this for a little while.
  20. Thanks, after looking at the dove tail I some how came across a this scope accessory rail http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=50839/pid=24640/Product/SCOPE-ACCESSORY-RAIL?utm_medium=shoppingengine&utm_source=googlebase&mc_id=10000&gdftrk=gdfV21820_a_7c187_a_7c3466_a_7c100003129_d_100003129_d_10133 anyone ever used one?
  21. I would like to mount a scope and a HWS on the same rifle. I have seen iron sights mounted off to the side, I'm wondering if there is a mod for mounting a HWS to the side? Thanks in advance.
  22. /agree on the accidents however not sure what the Freedom Machine, GB, or NIB is/stands for I hope that 90-120 days is accurate, at least no longer than that anyway I don't mind if it gets here sooner.
  23. Just ordered LAR-8 elite yesterday, was told 90-120 days. anyone know if thats about right?
