Can I cheat and just buy a complete LW gun? 7.1lbs http://www.christensenarms.com/products/ca-10-recon/

Ammo will continue to be scarce for a while. One thing people tend to forget is that the general public is third in line when it comes to distribution. LEO and Military come first. Also, when Remington won the PSR contract last year it also included an open PO for 4.7 millions rounds of ammo. So until that order gets filled don't expect to see too much Remington ammo on shelves for a while.

Any Black Rain Ordnance 7.62/.308 shooters?
Goofball310 replied to Cajun's topic in General Discussion
+1 to that. Buying glass is a personal thing that you should put a lot of thought into to compliment your build. Figure out your budget: $100-$$$$$$$$ Range: CQB - inifinity Type: Bench, Hunting, Range, 3Gun/Run & Gun, etc From there the guys here can better help steer you in the right direction. BTW, really nice build. I always liked what BRO table (custom colors and designs, billit receivers, NiB BCG, & fluted barrels). -
Finally took her out to the range. Only got out to 75yds before it started raining. Blew out the bulls so I started going for the outside dots.

Building a sub 6lbs AR-15 and need help choosing an upper
Goofball310 replied to Goofball310's topic in General Discussion
I already bought the Mag Tactical lower and got it for a decent price on GB. Dixie Ammo has their auctions starting at $145 and no one seems to be bidding on them and Brownells has them on their site for $220. -
I'm staying away from the slick side uppers. I want a shell deflector at least.

I have the parts chosen for my next build but I'm having a hard time finding a regular USGI upper receiver without forward assist. I've narrowed the build down between a regular USGI mil-spec upper and a Vltor MUR-1S without forward assist. If anyone has any info regarding their weight I would greatly appreciate it. Every ounce counts on this particular build. I might even consider a USGI upper with forward assist block. Here's my current build sheet: CHEELY CUSTOM TITANIUM COMPENSATOR JP LMOS BOLT CARRIER MAG TACTICAL LOWER RECEIVER JP LMOS BUFFER JP TUNED AND POLISHED SPING STAG LOWER PARTS KIT MAGPUL MOE-K PISTOL GRIP ACE SKELETON STOCK NOVESKE 11" NSR 14.5" DANIEL DEFENSE MID-LENGTH LIGHTWEIGHT BARREL PRI LOW PROFILE GAS BLOCK VLTOR BCM CHARGING HANDLE WMD GAS TUBE MAGPUL MBUS FRONT & REAR SIGHT ALG COMBAT TRIGGER

My next build for May is gonna be a sub 6lbs 14.5" AR-15. I've already gotten all the parts chosen except for upper receiver. I can't find any regular uppers without forward assists and I'm torn between a regular upper w/ forward assist and shell deflector and a Vltor MUR-1S without forward assist. Anyone with any insight between the 2 regarding weight would be greatly appreciated.

$5000 shipped to Texas is a really hard deal to pass up but I really want the FDE for $6200. I never knew there were different rail lengths until I compare the black and FDE. The rail on the FDE was 3-5" longer and gave the rifle a more agressive look.

I went to the gun show today with the rifle in hand with the sole intention of walking away with an MRAD. Walked up the the local Barrett dealer there with the rifle in hand and asked if they offer me a trade towards the MRAD and they declined to make me an offer but pointed me in the direction of a dealer that would. I walked over to the dealer showed them the rifle BS'd for a few minutes while they looked it up and they too came back and said they couldn't make an offer. Oh well, I still have the N6 and she'll sit in my safe til I'm able to take her back out. The Barrett dealer quoted me $5000 out the door for a new 26" black MRAD or $6200 for their FDE which they had both displayed on the table (prices included shipping to Texas so no tax is included). The FDE was part of a full packaged deal for a Leupold scope and BORS put together from Barrett as a set for $8900. I talked them into separating the scope from the MRAD as I'm not a big Leupold fan. That MRAD will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine.

Quit being a little man-girl and take it like a man! ^-^ A good brake will make a world of difference.

Is it dumb to build multipe uppers for a single lower?
Goofball310 replied to EasyEJL's topic in General Discussion
Not at all. If I ever get around to it, I plan on building a Noveske Gen 2 lower w/ 4 separate Noveske uppers. 14.5" lightweight 14.5" fluted afghan 16" recon 18" SPR -
On the FN forum they said they were pretty much interchangeable except the FNX doesn't drop freely from the FNP.

Double post

These are my favorite in my collection. The FDE is brand new and I'm pretty anal about keeping it that way which is why I don't keep the barrel in it. I plan on adding a black one as soon as I can find a new one for sale.

Even before I clicked on the thumbnail I was already suspecting it was CTD.

Not all CCW holders are ignored. Especially when the media can spin it into a hate crime (George Zimmerman). I'm sure they're gonna find a large capactiy pocket protector on the attacker and he changed pencils frequently.

I don't mind the thread jack as long as I end up on Top. ;)

Where has this there thread gone? You're cuter, I'm cuter. We're all gonna have to settle this in a back alley somewhere. I'm the the cutest one outta this bunch!=)

I'm not sure if any of you have seen the buzz in a bunch of magazine and SHOT Show 2013, but Tracking Point has come out with a long range shooting system that turns the average JoeSchmo into a long range shooter in a matter of minutes. The starting price is $17,500 (includes rifle and scope) but I just look at it as a starting point of things to come in the future. The scope will continue to get smaller and the price will ultimately start to go down over time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yu2EqO1qbrQ

What do you consider reasonably priced and what caliber? Also, if it's a 308 AR platform which lower are you trying to mate it to? -

90% of my posts on ARF is just to sell things. It seems like anytime I post in their regular forum it turns into a pissing match. One of my posts on there was about finding info for modifying the Pmag to fit into my Noveske. I specifically told them it was just a "range" shooter and wanted first hand experience from people that have done it. One of the first responses was that I shouldn't modify it because it makes the walls of the magazine too thin. I then replied that I wasn't too worried about it being too thin unless it became a safety issue. The whole thread went downhill from there about how I was wasting a magazine and should use the correct mag blah blah blah. I can care less about a $20 magazine and I'm not using the firearm in the "field". It's a range gun and if the magazine breaks and the bullets fall out, Guess what, I'm just going to get out of my seat and pick them up. A lot of people on there fail to realize that not everyone is LEO and military, and not every weapon is for hunting or personal self defense. I have hunting rifles and I have a judge for PSD. I've really enjoyed my membership on here more than most other sites. When I first started this thread I posted that I needed a LPK and a few members on here tried to help me find kits, looked for kits that they had laying around, and offered up small parts that I needed during this build. I already know if I would've posted this on ARF they would've sold me a kit for $$$$$$ or just told me to post an update after I've found what I'm looking for. This site might be smaller than most but is definitely in a class above others.
