  1. Gotta watch those dang cops they will get you everytime <lmao>
  2. I helped a friend of mine who just retired build a DPMS using that barrel. He has yet to shoot it due to some serious surgery how does it shoot?
  3. In previous .308s like my old Remy 700 bolt gun I would run what I could find such as 150,156,168 and 180. It did fine with all but the 150s they didn't group as well. I do agree that the ideal twist on a 20 inch or so is the 1:11 1/4 twist for both the 168 and 175 grain. Rock Creek also makes a 1:11 1/4 twist barrel. The Knight Armament is a 1:11 5 R .
  4. Thanks its a 09 Road King I bout just about a year ago I m the second owner. Since I bought a Harley, my hobby money gets split lol .
  5. The Mega Arms is as you well know a SR-25 / DPMS Pattern and the Daniel Defense will work just fine as well many others that use that barrel nut pattern. Some will come with their own specific barrel nut that is required so that the rail can attach to it. So research Daniel Defense line of free float rails, if you want it , buy it, they make good stuff.
  6. This is from Shilen Barrels - 7" * for heavy VLD bullets and/or subsonic ammo. - 8" for bullets heavier than 220 gr. - 10" for bullets up to 220 gr. - 12" for bullets up to 170 gr. - 13" * Ratchet rifled 4 groove - 14" * for bullets up to 168gr. - 15" * for bullets up to 150 gr. - 17" * for bullets up to 125 gr. This is from Armalite which uses a 1:10 twist Your SuperSASS™ is designed to fire all standardized U.S. military 7.62mm NATO cartridges and all factory loaded cartridges in .308 Winchester caliber (except cartridges using saboted projectiles). Do not attempt to fire any other cartridges in this firearm. 150 grain through 175 grain projectiles provide a good combination of accuracy and functional reliability, with 168 grain particularly recommended. I have always used 168 gr FGMM or Hornady not the TAP and Black Hills out of 1:10 twist regardless if it is a bolt gun or semi-auto .308. Just understand that out of a 20 inch and even a 24 inch barrel i believe the 168 starts to go subsonic at / around 800 yards. The M118 LR i.e. 175 hangs in there till 1000 yds
  7. Burris makes some good glass for the money.
  8. ^^^^^^^ SPARE AR PARTS ARE ALWAYS A GOOD THING TO HAVE ^^^^^^^^^^^
  9. Just make sure you get the right stock for the right caliber. The charging handle will interfere if you have a .308 and buy a 5.56 stock. The check piece when its raised will not allow you to pull the charging handle if you mismatch. And yes if you have an A-2 stock you're good.
  10. Try Rainier Arms for the BCG they are usually pretty good about updating their status of availability. I have a spare SSA trigger I am gonna drop in mine. I had on an 5.56 build with about 500 rounds through it. So before spending the money on a SSA-E because Tom is all most always right and it costs me money, I want to try it out first. The gas block, any low profile will work that will allow the use of a free float tube. I am not big into adjustable gas blocks the only reason I have one is because it came stock on mine and it only has two settings. I guess if you want to go free float quad rail or circular tube its up to you plenty of nice looking ones out there.
  11. I hope to start this weekend
  12. Yeah I so did not mean to :threadjack: Sorry Jon. I guess now I may have to pay penance by purchasing one
  13. Why do I have the feeling you are about to cost me money lol
  14. Do you have the high rail upper receiver without the forward assist and dust cover or do you have the newer low profile upper with the forward assist and dust cover ? There is a distinct difference in height. Troy industries makes a the MRX Quad rail not to be confused with the TRX. The MRX is a free float and comes in both heights to accommodate for the olde and new profiles. Make sure you know which one to get.
  15. Does it have a solid lock up without any play in it? Thats the only thing I dislike about some of the colaspible stock is the flex or bend in the stock I feel when the weapon recoils and the play in the stock or woble .
  16. I think I will use the PMC 150 Botail or American Eagle Botail 168
  17. I believe its a medium contour and should be okay. The bull barrel I believe they are talking about is the heavy 24 inch stainless like on the LR-308 B
  18. www.lawtactical.com makes a folder for the AR platform from 5.56 to 7.62 / .308. would make transporting a SASS with a PRS a little bit easier ????????

    Oregon CPL?

Yes it does with retired LEO's. But I still like to call and get a feeling of the local P.D. and attitude and see how they like things done.An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure so to speak. I am glad to see that the LEO's in California appear to be LEO friendly. My wife wants me to go to Hollywood with her some day and I still refuse.
  20. Don't have one of those BUT I do have the La Rue Armadillo bottle opener that was a gift from a friend, does that count ? lol
  21. Save up and change scopes lol
  22. 8.4 BREAKING IN MATCH BARRELS ArmaLite® has spoken with several barrel manufacturers. NONE of them recommend breaking in barrels using abrasives. For optimum accuracy and barrel life, ArmaLite® recommends the following break-in procedure: 1. Fire 9 single shots. After each shot, push a cotton patch wet with solvent through the bore. Then wet a bronze brush with solvent and stroke the barrel five to ten round trips. Follow with another wet patch and then a dry patch or two. (We do NOT recommend nylon or stainless steel brushes.) After you finish, wash the solvent off your brush so that the brush won’t deteriorate. 2. From 10 to 30 shots, clean as above after each five shots. Initial break-in should now be complete. For subsequent, normal cleaning, it is suggested that you clean after each range session. It is often suggested that the barrel be brushed one stroke for each shot fired. I copied this from Armalites owners manual for my SASS
  23. I also agree that the Magpul art of the precision rifle ( I think its called ) is a good watch especially if you be healing up. I hope all is well with you. You can also run some dry fire drills in your home. I am unfamiliar with the apple seed program, I know I know lol. I had a former Marine sniper who is a friend of mine teach me. I was taught body position in relation to the rifle, natural point of aim, loading the bi-pod, breathing control and trigger control and follow through
  24. I have always done it. There is a reason most bench rest shooters swear by it. As I understand it, ( and anyone feel free to correct me ) , unless the the barrel manufacture hand laps the barrel and then uses a bore scope to ensure its totally concentric. That's why you fire lap or season the barrel. By doing so, the copper fills in, and smooths out the imperfections in the rifling and allowing it to get a good smooth grip on the bullet thus obtaining the proper spin or twist and stabilize the bullet. But then again I war a helmet when I ride my Harley but I hate wearing a seat belt lol.
  25. Yes tactical taylor makes good stuff
