    Oregon CPL?

I usually google the P.D. in the area I am traveling then call and ask to get a feel for the LEO's in that area. Its a little different for active L.E.O after Bush Admin. passed we can carry throughout U.S. I have heard horror stories though of some officers coming close to getting in trouble when they vacation in areas like N.Y. City and Kommifornia. I have never been to Kommifornia and have no plans to. My wife wants to go and I told her send me a post card, and I would stay in Vegas, Arizona or even Hawaii since I have yet to go. The last time I was in N.Y. City was back in 2001 so a different time then. Sorry didn't mean to thread jack carry on lol.
  4. ^^^^^^^^^ Yep.
  5. Thanks for posting that. I have Chris's first book and it is a good read and he showed a lot of character. I am glad to see though his wife I was correct.
  6. I remeber that Beaver Creek is just a little north of me it did not end well for him.
  7. Cant type still laughing <lmao>
  8. At 1100 here in my area it would be gone soon also.
  9. Interesting for a while Yahoo was publishing slanted opinion based / biased articles that were very anit-gun. I guess enough people complained in the comment section and they stopped. Don't think for a minute that the politicians don't have access to the FBI stats, its public record. Every time an arrest is made is goes to the state then the Feds so they can keep track of trouble areas and help give grant money to help needy agencies. Also couldn't help but notice that the person was holding the pistol wrong with the weak hand its wonder they didn't get railed with the slide lol. just saying.
  10. I run a Night Force NSX 3.5-15 x 50 and after drinking that kool aid well, yeah its knida like that lol. It spoiled me pretty bad lol.
  11. I wish I knew a way to download that as a ring tone on my I-Phone >:D
  12. I did it I ordered the Aadland mount after some serious thought and help from you guys. I will run a side mounted red dot a some point. I just received the mount yesterday and let me tell you wow. Very well built like a tank and very nice machining. I am surprised he does not charge more.
  13. I cant wait to do some pig hunting down the road..
  14. The Mil-Dot master is a nice tool to have. I have been around Mil-Dot scopes so long that I stick with what I know and most people know the math object size times 27.77 devided by size object in mills measured via scope. On FFP whatever power you have it on , SFP on 10 power usually
  15. I've been through White River on my way to Stowe and Burlington I love Vermont especially the aged cheese yall have up there.
  16. Well being in Vermont might also change things due to your elevation being in the mountains. Air density and bullet coefficient might be different from that at sea level or just above maybe? What part of Vermont are you in by the way its gorgeous up there. IS the 1/8 adjustment on your scope throwing you off also? One more thing, are you shooting level or are you shooting at an up hill or down hill angle. Any angle you shoot at will also add or subtract a few clicks for adjustment depending on the angle and gravity. There is a formula for that also
  17. The only way it would change some is by using a longer barrel. That only gives you around 50 FPS per inch and a little bit more spin on the round. The 165-168 grainers start to destabilize and go subsonic at around 800 yds. The 175 SMK that out service personal use are maxing out at 1,100 yds. They are even reporting confirmed kills where the bullet inter the bad guy almost vertical, with the nose of the bullet pointing at an angle towards the ground and the base towards the sky. An Army sniper shot a insurgent at about that range, who was standing out on a patio in an abandoned hotel say on the 5th floor, if memory serves, but don't quote me on that one lol. That bullet bullet weight will start dropping after about 250 yds. Its one of the reasons the U.S. military is looking into or has added the 300 Win Mag into its bag of tricks. One other thing you can do is look at Remington , Winchester and Hornday's ballistic data and compare.
  18. Out of a 20" barrel 1:10 twist using 168 FGMM at 2520 FPS with a 100 yard zero, not a 200 I show a 5.5 MOA on my Night Force with 1/4 MOA adj. which is a 22 clicks for 17" of drop for a 300 yard shot. At 200 yards its 2.3 MOA or 4.8" inches low so a difference of 12.2 inches between 200 - 300 yards. I don't know if this helps or I made it clear as mud lol
  19. I was taught that unless you are buying a serious match grade barrel, such as krieger, shillen, or lilja for example. That use bore scopes after hand lapping the barrel to ensure the rifling is concentric and there are no tool markings or other imperfections that is why a barrel must be seasoned, fire lapped or broke in per se'. I understand that the twist rate of a barrel must be matched to the case length, bullet type, weight and velocity. So I know that on a 1:10, 1:11 to a 1:12 twist the 168 grain BTHP traveling at around 2650 FPS is ideal and is the heavies load for the 1:12 twist. So how does shooting a 147 or 150 grain PMC or Wolf or CBC at 2600-2800 FPS to just remove the barrel imperfections differ from using the 168 match grade stuff. Now I know that it will hit minute of pie plate or minute of dirt bag unlike the match grade after the barrel is broke in. I will use the good stuff to group with , I just don't understand why I would need to or want to waste good ammo. Is the lighter stuff traveling to fast and the wrong bullet type not biting into the rifling enough to remove the imperfections ?
  20. I just don't understand what the difference is when using it as cannon fodder to remove the minor imperfections in the rifling. Obviously in a 1:10 twist 165-168 is ideal and that' what I will use when making bug holes in paper. But using match grade ammo to break it in seems a little excessive to me especially at the cost and difficulty to find. Is it the difference in bullet type and velocity or something else that I am missing ?
  21. I am sorry to hear the loss of life, but you gotta love it when bad guys make it easy to put a case like that together.
  22. Ok a friend of mine and I were discussing this. My new Armalite SASS manual states to break in the barrel and am a firm believer in it. The question is what kind of ammo and does it really matter? I say that I can use whatever 150 grain or 147 grain 308 or 7.62 as long as I follow the shoot and clean instructions. My friend says I should use the 168 type ammo such as FGMM to break in the barrel. What say you ?
  23. You will be fine as long as the bell / end objective is no bigger than 50mm
  24. Well one more gun on the list, Tom , thanks for letting us know how it shot.
  25. Down the road I have a Trust in the works C:-)
