  1. What brake is that?
  2. I have one in my AR15, and it runs like a clock. I'd hope their .308 bcg would run as well.
  3. Yes, I saw that- awesome review!
  4. The M11 has 3 side ports, the Cooley only has 2. It is interesting though, that he tested the JP/ GoGun Supercomp and Jp Recoil Eliminator, but not the JP-Cooley brake. Is that cause he and JP don't think it works as well? Who knows. IT certainly could be added to the list. Based again, on many anecdotal, claims are that the SJC TItan & Rolling Thunder work better that the JP-Cooley in terms of recoil. I'm especially curious to see how they'd stack up against the inexpensive Miculek that preformed great, as well as the pricier PA, Lantac and R&D. (I know many of these are designed as comps, but as this guys data shows, there's quite a bit of crossover)
  5. So, after reading the link below a little more thoroughly, it seems the following are in the top running for recoil reduction. This is based on the data he collected, as well as anecdotal evidence of other bakes/comps not included, but known for preforming very well. Precision Armament M41 and M11 LANTAC Dragon DMPS Miculek VG6 Gamma R&D MRAD Surefire SFMB SJC Titan Rolling Thunder http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/11/jeremy-s/556-muzzle-device-shootout/
  6. Do you think it's the UBR that makes it so heavy? Does that barrel have a .750 gas block - or is it a bull profile?
  7. AP seems like quality stuff at a great deal...but not completely compatible with all other OEM parts.
  8. ^^^ Learned this the hard way

  10. In retrospect, I would have gone with a cheaper alternative like Aero Precision, and saved the extra money for the barrel and trigger, as it seems as long as there is a good tight fit, it the rest of the receiver doesn't really matter...unless you need full ambi.
  11. Zebra644, I too am curious who makes the Brownell’s 5R SS 1:10 barrels. Anyone know?
  12. Was this the one you ordered? http://www.vcdefense.com/20-308-7-62x51-nato-match-barrel-rainier-arms-ss/ If so, looks awesome - good price. I think it uses a Shilen blank, no?
  13. Ever see this? http://www.darpa.mil/Our_Work/TTO/Programs/Extreme_Accuracy_Tasked_Ordnance_(EXACTO).aspx http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/07/14/see-it-in-action-first-ever-guided-bullet-that-can-change-direction-mid-flight-could-revolutionize-rifle-accuracy/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EXACTO
  14. I use Fireclean on my NiB. Runs smooth as a top!
  15. Farkle, yes, I'm aware of that. Thanks.
  16. Supposedly, these guys supply several "top name" manufactures with their BCGs, who in turn, sell the same thing, with their own logo, for a lot more, or incorporate them into their builds. I cannot confirm this, just ear to the ground. http://www.dwilsonmfg.com/store/p18/AR10_Bolt_carrier_Group.html
  17. I think mine are Gen III. The new Ambi ones are Gen IV, I believe
  18. LOL! Totally. I'm probably gonna build one when the Receivers/BCG/Mags are available.
  19. Got it. I guess I knew that, but like you said, it should still be a better fit than from another company. I'll let you know when it's in and how it looks! This my planned "OBR on a budget" build so far: SI-Defense Billet .308AR Receivers, with: · 18” Lothar Walther Vartac LW50 Rifle-length 1:10 Barrel w/NiB Bolt or… · 18” Fulton Armory Criterion mid-weight 1:10 .936 rifle-length gas system · BCG: Nemo Arms or D Wilson Mfg (NiB) · Miller Precision Low-profile Adjustable Gas Block (.750) · Geissele B-G2S-E Trigger · VLTOR 6 Position Carbine Buffer Tube / Receiver Extension · AR10 Carbine Buffer & Heavy Spring Charging Handle, Grip, Handguard, and Muzzle Device are still to be decided
  20. Also, Rainier Select barrels are made by Black Hole Weaponry. I spoke with LaRue tactical recently, and when Mark LaRue began making the OBR barrels in-house instead of using Lothar Walther, they stopped using polygonal, stating that they found no improvements in performance. Now, Lothar Walther's top AR barrels no longer use Polygonal rifling either.
  21. Honestly, I'm not 100% certain. Sorry.
  22. Spoke with SI defense. It's a SAAMI full 300 Winchester Magnum round. They have 2 other multi caliber platforms in the works. One called the "Gyra", that I believe he said will switch between .308 and 300WM, and the "Exodus" that will switch between 300WM and 338LM. Both will require bolt and barrel swaps. Neither are "quick changes" Sounds like having separate uppers might be easier. Either way, looking forward to their stripped receivers, bolts and mags for the 300WM! The rest of the PETRA 300Wm is completely DPMS compatible!
  23. My Aero M5 upper fit my friend's CMMG lower just fine, so he's buying it from me. I'll use that money to buy an SI-defense matched upper. Lesson learned: Don't mix and match receiver parts.
  24. I got to play with this one on a friend's rig for a little bit. It felt very much like the way you are describing the ELF http://www.hiperfire.com/hipertouch24c.html
  25. Yeah, while dpms pattern, the curved shape of the rear part of the Aero upper is not exactly the same...almost making it proprietary. Good thing their receivers are cheaper.
