  1. Interesting...I wonder if that AR Gas Vent would make a difference Rsquared?
  2. "The TacOps-1 was actually designed to tighter tolerances specifically to reduce the amount of gas/hot-oil back into the shooters face. This was an intended feature quoted to me from their owner. " How about the Raptor or Phase 5? Is there a way to have them limit blow-back like the PRI/Tacops do?
  3. Farkle, can the RTV silicone be added to the Tacops, Raptor or Phase 5 as well?
  4. Which of the following will have the same helpful effect when running a can as a PRI GasBuster will? MechArmor TacOps-1 Rainier Arms AXTS Raptor Phase 5 Tactical Ambi Battle Latch Thanks

I don't think the Syrac will fit under the new midwest rail - at least, that's what they told me. Others on this forum recommended the wilson combat GB. Sounds like a sweet build. How about a heavy buffer and a brake?
  7. Great input everyone. Your responses have fundamentally shifted the way I look at this more than any "gear review" or technical chart. Thanks for all your perspectives.
  8. Awesome. How far have you taken her out to?

  13. Great input all. Bottom line: Seems like it depends on how much you want to put into the rifle, to make it "yours". One might even have to do this to a high end OBR (I'd certainly change the stock and grip, for starters). I suppose custom builds or DYI are the way to go, in order to truly get what you want, what works best for you, and save a little change all the while (you'll put that towards glass and ammo).
  14. I know, I know...-roll eyes- Here's my point in posing this: We've all heard the accolades Larue's platforms (especially OBR) is getting for being the top "out-of-the-box" dog for 308ARs. Well, I've got 2 questions: 1. I know very little about DPMS other than that they proliferated the SR25 platform in contrast to Armalite's AR10 (we will omit RRA for this discussion). Many on this forum have LR308s or have built on this platform. How good are they? What's the best out of the box DPMS? Can you tweak a DPMS to perform like an OBR? 2. For those of you that own a Larue (or have spend some time behind one), is it difficult to achieve or surpass the accuracy and reliability of an OBR with your own franken-build? For Example - a set of Maten or Si-Defense receivers, Fulton barrel, Geissele trigger, etc. clearing .5 MOA or less. Wasn't sure if I should've posted this on the DPMS or Larue section, so I dumped it here. Just trying to learn a bit more about real-world performance from what's available on the market. Cheers, DRD

That's what I've heard. Too bad. They put a 'conceptually' awesome package together. I guess a superior rifle is more than the sum of good parts.

What's the general consensus on pof? On paper, they have all the 'right' specs. I've heard varying opinions on how well they run (talking 308 here). And, they aren't the cheapest. What say you all?
  19. Good points. It seems the missions continue to dictate the tools, for the elite, anyway. As, many SF units have embraced the SCAR Heavy (.308). Since insurgents have realized they can't win in CQB, they've restored to mortaring from a distance that makes 5.56 impractical. Perhaps DPMS' GII will pave the way, or maybe we'll start to see more modular platforms like Colt's Modular 901?
  20. Looking forward to what you find?
  21. Rssquared, it seems that the MPA 300 WINMAG is based on AR10 Armalite parts. I sure hope we can get decent priced receivers in the not so distant future. Id love to build/modify a lightweight 14.5" version of that DPMS GII as well! It will be interesting to see if that concept catches on and if DPMS licenses it. It could set a new standard.
  22. So we've got the 300 WIN MAG startin to pop up all over, and many manufacturers jumping on the 308 platform bandwagon Nemo http://nemoarms.com/guns/ Bad News http://www.onlylongrange.com/badnews_updated.asp MPA http://www.shopmillerprecisionarms.com/MPA_300_Guardian_Customized_p/mpa-300-custom.htm Now we've got DPMS' new .308 GII platform as well. Do you think we'll move towards standardization like the AR15 platform? Which will take the lead? And when do you think we'll see 300 WIN MAG stripped receivers and parts available so we can build them ourselves (and not pay a ridiculous $6K for an AR patterned rifle)? Just thought I'd start the discussion...
  23. No, can you link it?
