  1. FYI - I never asked "which one is best". I asked which people would choose and why? Simple show of hands and comments. Not everyone in the shooting game is a complete know-it-all so some of us ask questions. I've seen the ballistics and done the research and numbers are nice and all but opinions of people that have experience with these calibers are irreplaceable so questions of this nature should not only be appropriate, but the actual REASON for having forums. What cracks me up is misquotes and people half reading and then making inappropriate comments... That's always good for some laughs.
  2. lol... Not gonna be going the AP route on anything anytime soon. So for pinpoint, repeatable accuracy at distances, you don't see any advantage of the 270 over the 06? Granted, I lean toward the 06 just due to the fact that I haven't bought anything under 30 cal for a lot of years but from everything I've been reading lately, the 270 may have a slight edge when it comes to accuracy. Smaller round aside, of the 2, when it comes to pinpoint accuracy, are we still picking the 06 over the 270?
  3. 2 choices - .270 or 30 06, all other things, rifle, optics, conditions, all the same. You have 1 minute to drop down and hit 5 cantaloupe sized targets at ranges from 500 to 800 yards. Which round would you choose of the 2?
  4. Just minding my own business and avoiding the stupid that is always so easy to find.

  5. Thanks for the input guys.
  6. I've been kicking around a new buy. I've also been thinking about whether I want to go with 30 06 or .270 and keep see-sawing back and forth so I'm just looking for a little input. Which caliber do (or would) you prefer and why?
  7. Noreen BN36 is in my sights early next year. An AR in 30-06 might be just what I need to get me back into the mood...

  8. Thread closed. Offer no longer open.
  9. Something like this might just do it.
  10. I made a little addition....
  11. I love this.... >:D
  12. She's another one of those parents that says something I fricking HATE to hear "oh, that's just how kids ARE nowadays". That's when I get pissed and say "no, that's how piss-poor parents LET their kids be nowadays"...
  13. Hey Guys, Got some factory furniture I'm letting go of and just looking for $60 bucks (shipped) for it. Buttstock with stock tube, buffer and spring - all like new. Handguards with Midwest Industries 2 inch and 4 inch bolt on rails - all like new. Pistol Grip. Paypal will work and 60 bucks gets it all out to you asap. I'll be going away for a few days toward the end of the week so if you say you'll take it after Wednesday, give me a few days to get back to you as I'll be "in-communicado" till Sunday at the earliest. If you grab it Monday or Tuesday though, it'll go into priority mail with tracking asap.
  14. Oh MAN would that be a nice addition to my M4....

    Benelli M4

Great choice right there. Any plans to do anything more with it? I see you've got the Urbino Stock on it already. That's what I have on mine and it (at least to me) is the best stock made for the M4. Great recoil absorption, the length is perfect and with the cheek piece, you can add on any kind of optics you want from a reflex to a nice shotgun scope for hunting. It's also a full stock which is always better for butt-strokin some mooks when the need arises. >:D
  16. Offer closed. God Bless.
  17. Hey Guys, If you are anywhere within traveling distance of Rhode Island, I'd be happy to meet up and let you have em for $250.00 cash - best deal you'll ever find on this stuff. I have 860 still in original boxes and 130+ in bags that were in magazines. I'm only getting rid of them because they just don't run in my wife's AR and I prefer to only have ammo around that will run in both of our rifles that use this type ammo. I'm not interested in shipping ammo and prefer a face to face deal in RI so at least I know it'll be a legit transfer - no matter where you are from. With Russian ammo on the verge of becoming extinct, I'd probably be smarter hanging onto em but I'm jammed up with an injury right now and just need to get em gone.
  18. Thanks man. I'll be good as new before long. Gonna take a couple O trips under the knife but no big deal. It won't be the first time I been cut... >:D
  19. My wife, sons and I will be up in that area for a week or so in August and would love to meet up with another member and do a little range time if possible. I will need some "heads ups" on the laws and a friend in the area to do a little shooting with would be outstanding if we could make it happen. I'm out of work at the moment due to an injury and going to be having some surgery soon but should be well enough by then to do some range time. I'd love to find a range near where we are going to be with a 300 yards or more potential for some AR10 time and maybe some fun with a few other items depending on how much I can legally bring on vacation with us.
  20. I called down to the station today to check on him and the fire tax collector said he was going to be at the capital in meetings all day. He never stops, never stutters and just doesn't know how to slow down... I am not a great man. But I sure as hell know one. And thanks for the "well wishes" guys. He just doesn't know how else to do things at this point.
  21. Last night, a 78 year old fire chief of 50 years (with 3 heart stents and 2 recently replaced knees) got the call again around 2:00am. It was a call for a fire at a closed mill that had been abandoned for several years and upon arrival, since there had been numerous reports of vandalism, they decided, even though there was nothing showing, they should go in and check it out. While clearing rooms with all men in radio contact and no reports of flames coming in, the old chief was on his way back out to the street and realized they had overlooked an area and even though he had told his deputy he was leaving the building, he figured he'd give it a look see all the same. 1st room. OK. 2nd room. OK 3rd room - 2 steps in and the floor gave way beneath his feet dropping him more than 10 feet straight into darkness. Tangled in mangled copper tubing, some kind of knee deep sludge, broken lumber and God know what else, he did his best to get his bearings. After taking a personal inventory and realizing he was in bit of a bind, he searched for his portable radio in the darkness and muck with no luck. He found his flashlight but it had been broken in the fall. Reaching into his bunker pants, he realized he had his cellphone with him and in an inside pocket and hopefully it was still usable - luck was with him. 1st call was to his wife telling her he had "fallen down" but was ok, loved her and not to worry - that was it. 2nd call was to the main dispatcher, calmly telling the now VERY excited dispatcher what had happened and directions for him to give to the company so they could find him. Then the radio went wild. Most of these firemen weren't even born when this man became chief and the entire department went wild looking for him. He is to that town what Arnold Palmer was to golf and every single man on site looks up to him like a father. A few minutes of mad searching, some shouting back and forth and they had "eyes on". The first man to find the hole never even hesitated. He just looked down, saw the chief, shined his flashlight around looking for a clear spot in the debris and muck and then grabbed an old beam and monkeyed his way down like he was Tarzan himself. The next few men got organized and waited for the ladder to arrive so they could get him out of there. The chief just very calmly told everyone to calm the hell down and relax cuz or they were gonna get hurt trying to save HIM and he'd trained em all better than that.. Finally, the ladder went down the hole and the chief climbed up with young Tarzan right behind him. They climbed out and the other men took the chief out to be checked out as the jumper looked back down the hole and shouted "wait !! WAIT!!!" Back down the hole he scampered, appeared to grab something and climbed back up shouting for the chief to wait for him - whatever he had grabbed in his hand as he ran toward the chief. He then looked at him and said "here you go Chief, now you're all set". My father then dusted off his Marine Corp cap, placed it on his head, and walked out of that old mill unassisted. With no fire, after getting checked out real quick by the ambulance guys, he climbed into his chief's car, drove home and went back to bed. Tough old bastard my old man... God Bless him. Further investigation of the hole and his landing zone, later revealed how incredibly lucky he had been. Another foot or two and almost any direction and he'd have been either impaled on some old piping or on mass amounts of machinery, partially disassembled that had long been abandoned and was nothing but sharp, rotting edges...
  22. Yea. I would have liked to have met you guys but between working 7 days a week and sticking close to home with my wife, I was lucky to manage the hour I got of range time. The damn thing was so fun to shoot, I think I dumped the whole 300 rounds in about 30 or 40 minutes and spent the other twenty either hanging targets or cleaning up empties and throwing away the trash. Then home to tend to the wife for a little "pre-mother's day" stuff. Ya know. I hope ya'll had a great time and God Bless. <thumbsup>
  23. Gave the new AK a whirl today. This is a FUN gun... >:D 300 rounds downrange and just had a ball with it. Not a single glitch. No tack driver for sure but certainly throws some major lead. I dumped 30 rounds into a silhouette target at 100 in a little over 11 seconds :auto: from the bench and using just a reflex site with 1 round off of the silhouette. Still on paper but missed the target. I zeroed the irons at 50 but then put on the reflex on the stock top rail since my eyes are what they once were with the irons. The rail itself has just a hair of wiggle to it so using it will never allow a GREAT grouping but it certainly puts em in the pocket so it's a pretty good set-up right now but will still need some goodies. One thing I was really impressed with outside of the flawless operation was the stamped US Flag and "Made in USA" on the receiver. It's so nice to see this company BOLDLY putting this on their rifle which to me, PROBABLY means they back the HELL out of it and it was certainly no disappointment. It's a standard Century Centurion with the black plastic stock and railed forend but I'm going to be getting a Fab Defense handgrip for it and in a couple of weeks probably order the adjustable stock as well. I'm also considering a dust cover rail for it but the wife and I are bogged with a crap load more medical bills again so it's gonna take a little while to pull it all together. My wife is doing ok lately other than the bills though so at least it makes the bills a little easier to swallow and she doesn't mind me buying a new part here and there as funds permit so it'll all come together in time. Overall a damn fine purchase and I have Robo to thank for his comment about "better of with an AK variant". He was right. It made sense and although I'm not gonna go AK nutso, I'm glad I made the buy cuz it's a damn fine piece. Here's a close-up of the pride zone... ^-^
  24. Welcome from South County. Glad to have you aboard and see a fellow RI'er joining in the fun... <thumbsup>
  25. Done. Century Centurion.... Once I take possession, I'll let ya know how she runs... This will be a first for me of this type but I wanted a fun gun and this one looked like it would fit the bill. The best thing about it so far? It's made in America... ^-^
