  1. Wow, that's pretty cool, do they just make them for Apple stuff? I've got a cheapass Wal-mart phone that doesn't even have a light/flash, and something like that would be pretty useful
  2. Just ordered Luth AR's 308 buffer tube kit and MBA-2. I plan on ordering some tungsten carbide weights to replace the stock buffer weights (along with a heavy buffer spring, of course), but I can't get the link y'all gave me to work on my phone. Oh yeah, and a set of Armalite's universal upper vise blocks.
  3. Thanks, brother, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't borderline smurf right now, though
  4. That's what I've been waiting for, 98, I'm starting to think I'm gonna be stuck for a while....
  5. You know where I could find a .243 Mauser bolt? I was thinking about trying that, but cannot find one anywhere... We are talking a .243 Mauser bolt on a BSA receiver and barrel, right?
  6. Thanks again, Shepp. That's all the parts he had left when my buddy brought it to me. Hey Mike, what was the one you saw chambered in? I thought about modifying a Mauser bolt if I have to, but I'd think a .243 Mauser would cost more than a whole BSA rifle, and then headspacing would be more of an issue.... But I'm staying open-minded on this one, all advice is accepted
  7. Also, according to the serial number prefix list, it's a BSA Monarch built off the first patent design, so that helps out a good bit.
  8. I'm still trying to figure out how to upload pictures on here, and having to use my cell makes it that much more difficult. It's not so much the monetary value as the sentimental, but I don't want to have to cannibalize a perfectly good rifle for a handful of parts if I don't have to. That link really helps, I think I can get most of what I'm missing from one of those sites. Still need that elusive .243 bolt, thougj...
  9. Okay, I'm posting this from my phone because my laptop's outta commission, so bear with me. A friend of mine brought me a BSA (Birmingham Small Arms Co, fyi) bolt action .243 the other day. His dad gave it to him several decades ago, and he says he's dropped every deer he's ever killed with this rifle, and his dad passes a while back, so the rifle is more sentimental than anything at this point. The rifle had seen some abuse over some years of sitting around, and the stock was DOA from what I understand, so he gave it to a local pawn shop that said they'd help him out. Well, after a couple months he went to pick it up, and they gave him a box with the halfass sanded with the stripped barrel and receiver, a bag with the trigger module, front and rear standard sights, the mag body, spring and follower, and a semi-new unfinished Monte Carlo style stock. That's all the parts he has, so there's a good little bit of parts I need to find. I believe the rifle was, at one point, either a BSA CF2 standard or Stutzgen (due to the 20" barrel), but all BSA stamped were serial numbers and proof marks, and the company has been out ta business since the 80's or 90's, so I'm having trouble finding anything. I'll start out with something easy, can you guys help me source a bolt in .243 for this rifle? I don't mind going a little in the hole on this one due to the sentiment (hell, I expect it this time), so all options are open.
  10. I'm building off a blem set from Chris, too. The way I understand it there are two different uppers for the Matrix receiver sets. You can distinguish the two by counting the threads on the upper; 10 for Armalite pattern and 12 for DPMS. I'm using a FF quad rail I got from Chris, so the barrel nut is made for the receiver, but I didn't get a wrench with it, so I sent a guy on here the barrel nut and he machined one for me. And yes, I know I can use a spanner to put it on guys, but I like my wrench :) There's actually several guys on here that have experience with Matrix sets, and beyond that these guys and this forum can help you out immensely.
  11. And after we just talked about this... Deep breaths, man, deep breaths <lmao>
  12. Welcome from SEGa, brother, you're gonna love it here <thumbsup>
  13. Nice rifle, Wash, what brake is that?
  14. It's all good, I just like having cool custom s#it that works correctly that I can show off to my friends. I've been called worse in the last 12 hours, anyways :)) Plus I kind of like the setup (and price) of this Matrix Aero stuff, and if this build goes well I plan on at least a couple more uppers. Seeing how Chris doesn't give you the wrench with the FF tube, and no one else sells one that's made for it, it's nice to have a purpose-built tool for the next few, plus I might burn through a barrel or two and have to replace it <laughs> BTW, I didn't realize I can't just post pictures, so I'll try to deal with that one tomorrow...
  15. And we're doing a damn fine job at it if I do say so myself. Wrench came in today, btw, pics tomorrow. Just gotta find my camera....
  16. For real, glad to hear you got the job, Matt! Just make sure you study up for that test and drink A LOT of water <lmao> Edit: Just not RIGHT before, it'll dilute it too much lmao
  17. It seems like I heard something about that before, I just can't put my finger on it.... Oh yeah that's right lol Hey, it could be a good thing, though, maybe a new spring is just what you needed. Hopefully, anyways.
  18. Good point, I honestly haven't really been keeping up with Ruger for a long time. Regardless of my op, Ruger DOES make awesome firearms. I'm actually building off a Matrix Aero SR-762 upper and lower right now, which is essentially a DI Ruger SR-762 set.
  19. Dude, that does it, I AM making the trip out west, even if I have to sell a couple guns to get out there...
  20. How long a barrel on that monster? I've always wanted a .500 S&W.... Edit: Monsters, I've never even seen a .500 S&W lever gun
  21. Someone should pin this, or @ least a thread about this, I've seen A LOT of confusion on cryo treating barrels out there.
  22. Dude, I would love to. I've actually got a friend down the road with an all original Remington #1, 32" octagon I believe, and I know he'd let me borrow her for a few days :D
  23. No offense, bro lol
  24. Great pistol, you're gonna have some fun with that one. I just don't like Ruger because of Bill Ruger supporting the gun ban. I believe it was Benjamin Franklin who said Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.
  25. You obviously haven't met 98 yet <lmao> Seriously, though, this place is awesome, the people here are helpful and experienced, and it really is, as you put it, a community of like-minded individuals full of helpful advice at a moments notice.
