  1. Sorry, I meant I can't find a 4-40 here at the house. I'd like to avoid buying MORE tools after all the schitt I've bought these past few weeks. For a little while, anyways :D For the time being, looks like the coat hanger will work. The hole will most likely end up threaded later. Do y'all recommend any specific 4-40 tap, I know those little ones like to break, and I might need to use it again
  2. I was thinking the same thing, but I checked the hole and no threads, and my LPK didn't come with the plug screw. I read about people threading the hole, but I can't seem to find a small enough tap. I'd rather keep from modifying the receiver if I can help it. I'm probably gonna try Robo's coat hanger mod, but if that doesn't work, how much would you charge me for a spring, SS? It's standard detent spring diameter, but it looks like it needs to be closer to 1.750" long
  3. I did; had to take a razorblade and cut out a little rounded groove about 1/16" thick for the safety selector to clear the edge of the grip. I'll post pictures in the morning.
  4. Okay, since my SSA-E finally came in I decided it was time to assemble my lower. I'm using a Matrix Aerospace lower and a parts kit that came with it (essentially, Chris modified the bolt catch for me). I went to install the rear takedown pin, detent, spring, and my Luth MBA-2, and I realized the rear spring was much too short as it disappeared into the rear of the lower. I checked all my parts before assembly, and the front and rear detent springs are exactly the same. I've looked around and I can't find anything but the standard spring length. It almost seems like I need a 716 rear detent spring, but I think those are like $60. Sorry, it's late and I'm tired and frustrated Edit:My rear takedown pin detent and spring are held in place with the stock, not the grip. Not sure If I was very clear about that...
  5. That's what I'm saying :lmao:
  6. Wow, how has all of that not had it's own thread before? Everything you ever wanted to know about lock time...
  7. He meant what length gas system does your barrel use, carbine, mid or rifle. BTW, my 20" .308 BHW barrel's gas port looks to be .099, but it's a rifle length gas system.
  8. I'm still trying to figure out why the dog has a taste for bra's
  9. That one was my favorite :D
  10. Noooooooo!!! And he was so close to trading them in for a Samurai XD Autocorrect....
  11. So did I, that'll make things A LOT easier
  12. That's another thing, have you guys had many mounts that couldn't handle the massive recoil impulse? I love it, but my scopes don't.
  13. Can't wait for the finished pics, just make sure your wife's in 'em ;)
  14. 98 isn't hated, he's one reason this forum is so helpful. People like 98 with real world experience with these platforms, parts, and the science behind it all call out all the misleading and incorrect bullschit so newcomers don't make simple, and sometimes dangerous, mistakes because bad info went unchecked. I keep forgetting Laz is still here... That being said, the Suzuki Samurai is the baddest Lil' 4wd ever conceived. They will literally run on farm diesel, kerosene and 190 proof, can take crazy punishment, and will get through stuff these atv's and mud trucks are scared of. A buddy of mine stripped one out completely (plastic windshield, milk crates and seat belts ONLY), and it would do 3k rpm past 85 on the power lines. Some assshole stole it and blew it up a couple years ago w/an anhydrous bomb :(
  15. That's very noble of you, 98 :) So that's a no on the Shepherd Scope? My dad wants optics that'll hold up on the .45-70, and got his hopes up with all their .50 BMG talk. Say, you've got a .45-70, right, 98?
  16. Edit #2: bs, not be DAMM YOU AUTOCORRECT!!!
  17. It's cool, Shepp, I've been calling that be out for years. Bo would be proud....
  18. Not to get off topic, but Ares Armor is selling their 80% ar 15 raw lowers for $45 and anodized for 55% until tomorrow
  19. I'm still looking for a Suzuki Samurai, pretty sure it's not TECHNICALLY an AR 10; then again, I'm no PROFESSIONAL GUNSMITH or anything like some of y'all.
  20. I'm building on a Matrix Aero lower, so it should fit snug like on your Armalites, but I won't know for sure until Tuesday. Any trouble with the safety catching on the grip?
  21. Either way, I'd work for cheap if those guys would teach me their ways. I've always wanted to build guns for a living(especially precision rifles), and my current job is working me to death for next to nothing with little possibility of advancement. I can answer phones, mop floors, clean bathrooms, whatever it takes to get a foot in that shop door.
  22. I wonder if Ga Precision is hiring, Titusville is right up the road a ways from my house....
  23. Glad to hear your horror story had a happy ending
  24. Just found this in the mailbox today. I guess that means my barrel's not far off :D
