"Soft Target Indicators can be anything along these lines that a predator might outwardly observe about you from his optic that sends him a clear message that you are easy prey." Read more: http://www.recoilweb.com/adversarial-attraction-predators-optic-90271.html#ixzz46lpXRGP5 Interesting. My first thought is "Gee, I wonder what message they'd get from seeing a red-dot optic (w/308 barrel attached) observing their 'predator' optic?"

Are the final 80% lower milling depths the same for the AR308 and AR15? The specs I have heard are: Fire Control Pocket: 1.25" Rear Shelf: 0.63"

Difficult manual extraction of military cartridges
Frankh252 replied to Mongoose333777's topic in Building a .308AR
Since a 7.62 chamber has slightly more headspace room for use in sustained dirty military environments, is it possible the used military brass has some memory of it's previously expanded dimensions that is allowing it to swell more 'perfectly' within a tight (or Match) .308Win chamber? Also, maybe dropping a few grains of powder from the reloads would help reduce case expansion? Not an expert of any grade, just pondering potentially plausible possibilities of the predicament. -
So far the major parts I've got for this one are: Aero Precision M5 upper (DPMS hi-profile pattern) Juggernaut Tactical lower Ballistics Advantage 18" .308Win chambered barrel, mid-length DI gas Ballistics Advantage BCG (NEED another Tac-Ops charging handle;) Brownell's 6-position commercial 308 carbine buffer/stock kit and a 12" Fortis Switch handguard that WILL HAVE A BIG GAP between it and the Aero M5 upper, so I'll have to get another HG. Luckily, the supplier agreed to take the Fortis back in trade... Still undecided about the scope but I also like the Nikons. Maybe my 2.5x10 ProStaff 5 will hold me for awhile while I keep thinking about the Meprolight M21 I want to get for my concurrent AR15 build? The magic 8 ball says "harharhar, get the card out, Jack" lol

Oh, I have no illusions about the machine being an illusion. It seems rather well-oiled, functioning and headed in a prophetically defined line, just a bit murky in it's operation and immediate direction at times. New World Order my butt...gonna be much more like New World Chaos

Another welcome from Texas.

This one is a .308 and I am assuming std parts will fit it. Or, Ballistic Advantage BCG's are just so good they don't need to offer replacement parts...yeah, I'll go with that haha
-
I bought a Ballistics Advantage BCG to compliment one of their 18" SS barrels but they don't offer replacement parts for their BCG's. I wonder if a spare set for another brand BCG would work just as well, if they day were to ever come that the originals needed to be replaced? I hope I never have to shoot it that much/can't afford all the ammo haha

Nnnnoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo not an M-60!

Yeah, that's coming in a little too hot for sure. They didn't teach us how to handle something like that at ComTrain lol

Welcome from northeast Texas. Just bringin' it back home ;)

I'll take 'ol long-tongue on our left haha

Events at the plant delayed my trip a day, so I won't be headed west until a little later this am. Get to drive right through the line of storms on the way. The leading edges of it are already hitting the Longview/Tyler area but they're so wide that they're still in Dallas area too.

Welcome from Texas. Motorcycles & weapons; a man's favorite couple.

Condolences for your loss. Watched my first pup get run over when I was 5 or 6 & I've never been one to let myself get too attached to pets since. I am very kind to all pets I meet, I just don't have many at home. Coyotes got the last one.

What attracts me to that particular Nikon, the P-308, is because of it's BDC reticle calibrated to the .308Win cartridge and they have a website that lets you enter the specific ammo to get precise distances for each descending aim-point in the BDC reticle. And the 4-12 magnification is enough for deer & wild hogs. I wish one of the American makers had that setup.

I still fully respect the office and position of the President, even when some temporarily elected holders of the office & position don't run things the way I would call "right". Like now. In my opinion. The machine rolls on.

I got a SLR Solo to replace a misfit Fortis Switch. 100% better fit with the SLR. No gap & no rail height rise or drop. Mine is on a DPMS 7.62 Oracle w/low-profile upper but I got the hi-profile Fortis thinking I had a hi-profile pattern upper (face palm)

Officials elevated Jihadi John to a “terrorist celebrity” after he beheaded at least half a dozen hostages, including American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff in 2014. Warren called the strike “the most precise air campaign in the history of warfare,” adding that they hit him as he was about to enter a parked car. I wonder if the drone was packing an AR308? haha http://nypost.com/2016/04/17/drone-strike-turned-jihadi-john-into-greasy-spot-on-the-ground/

One of our guys actually pulled the muzzle behind the red-line & pointed it down the line at the rest of us while telling the instructor he had a jam. The word ballistic does not begin to describe where the instructors went, lol. I don't remember dry-fire day, just some classroom stuff going over interesting technical info that I remember almost nothing about. Seems like I recall a long march all the way across the base for a half-day in class near the range then the long march all the way back across the base after plinking our few 22LR rounds after afternoon chow. Sure wasn't what I expected after reading all those books & seeing all those movies about WW2, Vietnam & Korea

I want to buy an American brand scope, like my 'since-childhood' fav Leupold, but I am being tempted by the Nikon P-308 4-12x40 BDC, which did not make the "Rifle Scopes Made in America" search result list. I'll have to think about it. The Steiner's are sweet no doubt but I'm not entirely convinced the "spend more on optics than you did on the gun" rule is really that necessary for my hog-hunting & home defense needs and the price of the Nikon's & Leupold's are much more attractive. Suggestions from the pro's here?

The first wave of storms are leaving the D/FW area & heading out my way now. Forecast is for 3"-5" the next two days. I trust our friend Wash buttoned down the hatches sufficiently.

Had to come back to review mrmackc's comments on sighting & scope adjustments. Think I've already caught most of it with the printer but sometimes I like to reminisce. Priceless stuff, mostly because it comes from a real hero (a Marine). Can't buy that at the corner store.

Sounds like y'all had a great visit. I'll be blowing through Big D a little south of ya on I-20 this Tues then again Thurs on the way back from the Texas Water 2016 event in Ft Worth. Would love to stop for a minute but I'll be riding in a city vehicle with others in tow and in a hurry to get home.
