  1. If 39 states say they are legal how is it possible for them to be illegal on a federal level? 39 is more than 50% of 50 right? I'm sure they have some BS mumbo-jumbo to justify it in their own minds but last I heard the US is still a democracy where the majority rules.
  2. Haha done that at least a hundred times looking at Aero's stuff and Brownell's AR builder
  3. (For my ar-puke 223/556 but like to have options build) Since Saturday's gunshow and today's mail delivery I picked up a PSA BCG, 500 rounds of Independence 5.56 ammo (the stuff made by IMI in Israel) and got my Faxon 16" 5.56 all in hand. Still need to figure out what buffer tube & spring is best, prolly a Tubbs spring but gotta look into the buffer length & weight thing. It's a mid-length gas system so I'm thinking carbine setup? Putting in website pics because I haven't gotten my camera to them yet.
  4. My next-door neighbor & I once got a kick out of mailing letters to each other and then joking about the USPS sending the letters 150 miles away to Dallas just to turn around and carry them back. No wonder they're losing money lol
  5. That's good news for sure brothers. Being such a newby to the AR308 & 15 platforms I'm really just winging it trying to figure this stuff out and hoping I don't waste too much $ buying the wrong things!
  6. Sweet. What a way to start out!
  7. Picked up a new Palmeto State Armory 5.56 premium full auto BCG at the local gunshow for $95/no tax. Sure hope a "full auto" BCG works in a "semi auto" build! It was just sitting there on a vendor's table unwrapped & unmarked & I didn't check the PSA specs until I got back home to get online. I usually don't buy stuff at the start of gunshows but the BCG was the only one in the building so I wanted to grab it before someone else did.
  8. It's like a hudna, where the mooselimb wants you to ceasefire while he thinks he doesn't have to ;)
  9. Heck yeah, I'd bolt it up in a heartbeat too haha
  10. Been looking at your site for a few weeks, looking for a barrel I wanted to be in stock. This morning I found the one at Joe Bob Outfitters and ordered the Faxon Firearms 16" Gov't/Socom 5.56 Mid-Length 416-R Stainless Steel Barrel QPQ Coated for only $170.05 and free shipping.
  11. HA! Love it! And I can already see the defense attorney's claim that "My client thought he was only taking their picture..."
  12. ....or have a huge chunk of nature that you can safely shoot.... yep, I have never been to a range. Not once.
  13. Looks mighty fine to me and nothing wrong with MLOK. I only went with the KeyMod because I had already bought some KeyMod stuff before I heard of MLOK.
  14. I got the 14" SLR Solo KM and really like it but I found these after buying the SLR. I think these are worth looking into and they're $100 less than the SLR. Fits the DPMS high profile. http://www.buckeyetactical.com/juggernaut-tactical-12-free-float-super-slim-rail-hand-gaurd-quad-ar-15-ar-10-lr-308.html
  15. That's a much needed relief. Last thing I want to do is piss-off a bunch of peeps with the obvious rule enforcement capabilities you guys have!
  16. And btw guys, I'm not renigging on THE RULE but since the specs of it seem to have a somewhat fluid nature I will divulge that I do need to call a time-out while Hartman gears up on their MH1 production and I get some finances for it in order. I've already spent a lot of $ in a short period of time so I do need to check myself for a bit. Also, while I respect the IDF I also respect American products and whenever possible prefer to buy American. So, what I'm thinking is that if the MH1 gets into production and I can put back a few pennies maybe I can get one in a few months. Heck, right now they aren't even disclosing what the price is going to be for it.
  17. I won't claim to know a lot about all the hunting regulations and need to refresh on them before hunting again but I do believe deer tags are to be used whether it is public or private land, as do bag limits, daily limits and possession limits for other game such as dove.
  18. Up until recently I always thought the only place you couldn't shoot was inside the city limits and out in the country it was fine. Then one day a friend and I were at his place shooting, then a county officer came barreling in because a neighbor called in a complaint. The officer asked how many acres we had and when my friend told him 16 acres, he said "Y'all have fun, just be safe" and left. After that I looked it up in the Texas statutes and sure enough it says it is illegal to hunt on 10 acres or less. So, since my current lot is only 2 acres I can't even legally shoot a friggin' squirrel or rabbit!
  19. Thankfully I am blessed with a wife that truly understands the need to be able to defend yourself in the ensuing chaos were someone like the Chinese or Russians to start the one EMP a week over the US program. And yes on the able to shoot on the property. You have to have more than 10 acres to legally hunt on your own property and that seems to be defacto translated into target shooting too. We're way out in the country with like-minded neighbors who also prep for such possibilities, so those kinds of problems are not like what you would expect to find in some urban-cowboy sub-division somewhere.
  20. This one is 4.2 acres with a single-wide mobile home for $120K. Yeah right! What it's really about is that we're angling for 35 land-locked acres and that lot is one that adjoins it for access. No sale, especially considering we've got a pretty good chance to get the 2 acre lot next door for $15K. Haven't got a firm price on the 35 acres yet but it looks like it's going to be relatively cheap because it's landlocked. As for the spending $$$ on 308AR related items...I'm in for about $3K just in the last 3 months so I'm getting "the look" from the wife more & more often lately haha.
  21. Hey hey hey, looks like the banner bonanza arrangement has been sorted out and they're back to being evenly spaced again. I've only got $144 spent in those links but now before I go to Brownell's I always come here first to access their site from here, hoping it leaves a trail so that Brownell's can tell the sales came from 308AR.com
  22. Ok I get it. This is a game called "Let's see if we can get the newby idiot to buy a discontinued $700 boat anchor for a sight!" I like it. Good one.
  23. Gotta run & look at some property with the wife but as former CaliGov once said, I'll be back
  24. Found out a few things about the MSE's. Apparently the ACQ-1B that I linked to is discontinued and is no longer made by the mfgr. The ACQ-2C linked by jtallen has a (highly undesirable) visible laser designator but the AQC-2D found here http://www.asiascopes.com/riflescopes-sights/mse.html and here http://www.asiascopes.com/riflescopes-sights/mse/mse-aqc-2d-reflex-sight-black.html has a visible laser designator and/or IR. Also read some info indicating that CCA (Command Arms) is the sole importer of the MSE sights and they only have the Hartman MH1, available for pre-order only, here http://store.commandarms.com/hartman-red-dot-reflex-sight-1/ but the PTT is no longer supplied and is optional for an additional $50. Hartman’s site in Israel found here http://hartman-il.com/
  25. OK, as soon as all 5728 forum members chime in that they haven't tried the MSE I'll order one ;) In the meantime there are some quirks about the company that I'd like to look into, such as the fact that you can't find the sight on their site and they mainly provide things like machine-shop services & hydrographics, or that when you plug their address into Google Earth it lands you smack on top of the Spring Valley Community Church Office bldg.
