If something is off on your rifle a good gunsmith should be able to find it. You should be able to just look at your gas block inside the rail and see it it's touching.

They have come down on the price of those since i looked. they were like 55 each. but i probably got 10 to 15 20 rounders from many moons ago.

Oh it'll shoot, I believe @Lonewolf McQuade just bought one just like it. he's been shooting groundhogs at over 400 yards with it. You'll like it. mine is old school and not a heavy barrel like yours.
