  1. I have another AR10 build in mind. It might happen for Fall Shoot 2023. Gonna be spendy. Stay tuned... P.S. I'm accepting donations...
  2. 🖕🤣🖕 I know how expensive that piece is! I've learned my lesson...
  3. 2 targets... 2 targets is not an ass whippin by any account. And it wasn't a solar flare. The blame lays squarely on improper training. I had plenty of water and was well rested. I'll not make that mistake again... 🍺

Just where I'd hope they'd be. Better than most with their chosen profession. Tim was fresh off instructing 4 days training that ended the day before this match. We had 10 on our squad of 12 that placed in the top 19 spots. We were definitely shooting with the cream of the crop. @98Z5V and I were the layer holding up the cream. 1,2,7,8,11,13,15,16,17 and 19th spots were on our squad.
  5. TIMED ST 1 ST 2 ST 3 ST 4 ST 5 TOTAL/47 9 12 9 8 9 15 Ruchong, Matt O-GFI-NER 43.00 51.97 9.00 51.97 8.00 NA 9.00 NA 8.00 NA 9.00 NA 16 Hartley, Thomas O-GFI-NER 43.00 80.82 9.00 80.82 10.00 NA 7.00 NA 8.00 NA 9.00 NA We both started off really solid. We started on Stage 4 and we were both clean until that damned Stage 2. I was having a hell of a time in the first 2 of 3 positions. I finally hit the first 8 targets and moved to the 3rd position for the final 4 targets. BEEEEEEP!! Timed out. I didn't even get to pull the trigger at the 3rd position. When I cleared my rifle, I ejected the mag and noticed it was empty. Pulled the bolt back and the last round of the mag was chambered. It wouldn't have mattered if I had enough time anyways! I was out of quarters! 19 shots to hit 8 targets in that stage was a little frustrating, to say the least. Overall, pretty solid showing, for the most part. @98Z5V was punching way above his weight class, but now he's gotten a taste of the good life! Something something blind squirrel and an acorn, blah blah blah.
  6. These 2 guys are local SWAT Snipers. Both are very proficient.
  7. Thats why ya bring the kids.
  8. Thanks, guys. I appreciate it. When we finished, I figured there'd be 20 guys that cleaned that course. It was just too easy! What happened to you @98Z5V? In all reality, my goal was to hit all the targets and let the cards fall where they may. We started on the timed tie breaker stage. I wasn't overly concerned with shooting fast, just wanted to be accurate to get things rolling. The fastest time on that stage for the day was 50 seconds. It's gonna take some doing to equal that kind of time. That's pretty effing fast. I wasn't lolly-gagging but I chewed up the majority of the 90 second time limit. Slow and smooth as they say, I guess. I was very impressed with how many one shot and first shot impacts Jim and @98Z5V had. It sometimes took them a while to get rolling, but once the targets were located, the shot to hit ratio was high. That was cool for me to watch. Something for me to aspire to. @98Z5V definitely has wind and elevation figured out before any "sighters" are launched. Probably just blind luck, really. The coolest moment for me was corking the 715 on the first shot, as it was the last target of Stage 1. I thought it quite the coincidence that the weekend before, @98Z5V had randomly put steel at 720 down at the SDTF for the Spring Shoot. Once we had the dope and the wind call, it wasn't much trouble to ring that bell with my 77gr SMK's. I got through the motorcycle prop easy enough, went prone for T1 and T2 at 205 yds no problem, should have plenty of ammo left in the mag, just in case. As I squared up on that 715, I remembered thinking, all my hits have all been just low and just right of zero. 2-3 mph wind right to left, hold right edge. Check. Up 6 MIL's. Check. Hell, let's give er an extra half MIL up and see what happens. Ding! Great time with great friends, great weather and finally got some love on the spotting! Thanks @98Z5V. Having a good spotter in your pocket that you trust takes some of the edge off. It takes a village sometimes. A team effort, if you will. When it all comes together though, it's pretty cool. Now I just need some speed!
  9. Shooting those subs is the gift that's gonna cost me a rifle this year... 🤦‍♂️
  10. Can someone ever, actually be prepared for these weekends?
  11. @Magwa I'll ask the question that first comes to mind. Why in the world would you possibly put your BCG in the freezer? Lol
  12. I had a weak moment and obviously misspoke. I may or may not have still been under the affluence of incohol...
  13. @Matt.Cross If ya wanna shoot a proven, multiple hits rig with quality crafted ammo, I got you. I can't deny that @98Z5Vcold bored that mile shot, as I was the one that saw and called the hit. It was pretty awesome, actually. However... He ran away like a scared little girl and wouldn't even attempt it the rest of the weekend. So then I put 4 out of 5 on plate in a 10 shot string. I always say I'd rather be lucky than good. But that was pretty good! We'll definitely be setting up that shot again next weekend. Looking forward to the "tie breaker" round. Old age and treachery vs youth and skill. I'll let y'all decide which is which.
  14. PM me your address and I'll get some off to you ASAP.
  15. You did what? No way. How come I've never heard you mention this before?
  16. Ha! You're probably right. That's why those balloons in the video were such a great idea. My rough calculations show that I'll likely need 50 MILS of adjustment. At that trajectory, the bullet hits the apex at around 145 ft or so. That's a long ways up to come down accurately. That's over twice as high as the same bullet apex's out of my 300 WM when shooting at a mile. That's only about 65 ft.
  17. I think it's a 1:7 twist. Fast enough that I think this idea would be possible. I'm sure they'll be coming down point first, but I'm pretty positive they'll be coming in like a lawn dart!
  18. 16" Ballistic Advantage, suppressed. Nothing too fancy, but not junk, either. Not ideal, but not impossible.
  19. So, who's bringing the balloons?
  20. In a gas gun with an 18" barrel, the 6 ARC is running between 2600-2650fps with a 105gr-108gr bullet. The 300 BLK with a 200+gr bullet is running subsonic, under 1100 fps. They aren't even comparable, really. I'm trying it because it's not really something that people would do. It's kind of dumb and has absolutely no practical use. But it will be cool to say I did it! It's just an itch I want to scratch. Just to see if it's as cool as I think it will be. I have a feeling its going to be a waste of components, in the long run, actually. I have @Matt.Cross 6 ARC shooting really well right now. 1000 yds is boringly repeatable. But I still giggle every time that steel rings.
  21. I'd rather be lucky than good, any day of the week!
  22. I'm in the process of attempting to build a subsonic load with 208 gr, 212 gr or 220 gr for 300 BLK that will be capable of consistent hits at 1k yards. Maybe a little over zealous, but I want to see if it's at least attainable. It's really cool to watch 220's through the scope when the sun is right.
