  1. yeah - lesson learned. We used to use moth balls (and still would if I was going to store a vehicle for years) - but it takes a month or so to get the stink out of the vehicle. We've found that opening the hood and putting a small LED light under the hood works well too. I'll add dryer sheets the next time we take a vacation. 🙂 Mostly - I'm just tired of the commiefornia-transplant, flower-child, "animals are people too" types infesting our great state.
  2. In today's installment of "is it wrong..." Is it wrong that I want to collect a bunch of Lonewolf's pictures to repost when the crazy "critters are people too" ladies on our local community facebook goup start babbling about how unfair it is that we don't ensure food and water availability for all of the local "fur-babies" including vermin like the wire-harness eating packrats that cost me $1300 a few years ago and other such furry devils?
  3. I used an app named "Endoscope Camera" v2.0.0 from "2020 endoscope LLC" and it seemed to work well. Got it from the Google Play store. Looks like this in the store (for me anyway)...
  4. Arrived last week. Don't have a ton of time into it yet - but so far it seems pretty cool. Well... by "cool" I mean "pretty critical of my slap-happy trigger finger..." 🙂
  5. LOL - Just read about the night at the RoadRunner. Not sure - but I think my son and his girl may have been there that night (heard them talking about it the week before). They get out there from time to time for the bull riding events and had seen the flyer... My place is about 5 miles from there. Was your shoot out at Cow Town?
  6. Welcome!
  7. Welcome from AZ!
  8. Guess I could have added it... On the other hand - with you being on the south end, and me on the north - we could almost be in different states if we were out on the east coast... 🙂 Do you shoot at Rio Salado? I've been meaning to get down to a CMP event down there. I usually end up at Ben Avery if I need a bench - and I've got my spots in the sticks for other stuff. Regardless - I'd love to have another excuse to get out and shoot now that the ammo and supply stupidity seems to be subsiding.
  9. Hey! Knock it off!!!!! 🙂
  10. 526... for parts... 😛
  11. These are local to me in the Phoenix area (well - local-ish in the case of the last two), may or may not have sold me a firearm or two or... and are places that I'll continue to shop. Tombstone Tactical ( https://tombstonetactical.com/ ) Ammo AZ ( https://www.ammoaz.com/ ) Lone Wolf ( https://lonewolftradingco.net/ ) Ruffs Sporting Goods ( http://ruffssportinggoods.com/ ) Liked them better when they were "Ruffs Guns and Liquor" - guns and gun stuff down one side - and a full / excellent liquor store on the other... Talk about taking the idea of personal responsibility to its end state... 🙂 Gary Reeder Custom Guns (used to be the Pistol Parlor in Flagstaff) ( https://www.reedercustomguns.com/ ) Gary's stuff is epic. He's made many serious wildcat cartridges both on his own and in cahoots with John Linebaugh. My first memory of his stuff was reading up on his .41 GNR - a .41 pistol cartridge based on a necked down .44 mag that pushes a 255gr bullet out at between 2000 - 2200FPS (2000 from a 7" barrel - 2200 from longer). Most of his stuff is not for the feint of heart - but he does VERY good work, has been doing it for a long time, and has a long list of people willing to wait to have him build stuff for them. I bought my first hand-gun from him about 30 years ago.
  12. I'm honestly struggling with how the extractor can be the issue. If the case were sticking in the chamber and the lip of the case was whole - I could see it being an extractor issue. In your case - the extractor is clearly getting good purchase on the rim of the case - I mean - it is tearing a big bloody chunk off of the case rim as the bolt moves to the rear. That extractor isn't "slipping..." The more I think about it the more I suspect either: 1) "something" is creating excessive friction between the case and the chamber... either your bit of bronze, or the brass has somehow changed in a way similar to worn out brass so that it is not elastic and never retracts from the chamber wall after pressure drops... or excessive pressure... or... ????? 2) thinking that there may be a timing issue of some sort - in that the bolt is unlocking and beginning to move rear-ward before the pressure in the case drops - causing the bolt and extractor to have to work against a case that is still expanded against the chamber wall. The fact that when this has happened you've had to do real work with a cleaning rod I assume some sort of "whackin' device" to get the case to clear the chamber pretty much eliminates option 2... so... I'm thinking your best bet is a good polish of the chamber and try again. That said - I'm still a fan of putting a few of those rounds through a chronograph to see just how hot they are. Surely someone within earshot of this thread lives near Pittsburg and has one... 🙂
  13. Mine does not have the notch (mine is an AR-10(T)). I believe that I'm the 3rd owner - I bought it from a good friend who bought it from a stranger. I know that my friend did not change out the extractor - but I have no idea if the original owner did. Either way - this is what I see when I look at mine.
  14. Long snout die grinder and a carbide burr should get it done…
  15. If shipping it is an issue, let me know. Stopping by to pick it up and ship it to you would be a great excuse to ge in the door there… 😁
  16. Sounds good…
  17. Come on over to New River AZ and pick mine up…. 🙂
  18. Factory or not…. I’d put a few of them through a chronograph just to know what they are doing and what sort of variation you are seeing. Just my 2 cents…
  19. When I think sticking cases I think either overly hot cartridges or very worn brass... If it were me I'd .... 1. Put a box of known factory basic rounds through it and see if you can replicate... if it happens with these rounds I'd look at the gun / chamber for issues... 2. If you can't replicate with std basic rounds, I'd chrono the match rounds and look at how hot they are relative to expectation...
  20. No longer waiting... it arrived...
  21. I’ve never use them, but I looked at them and was told that they can be quite a bit harder than a normal primer, requiring a harder pin straight to function. YMMV
