What you guys dont know about me is I do all kinds of side jobs to pay for my toys. Much of it is IT stuff but there is also property manager stuff, home repair side jobs, CCTV stuff etc. I end up getting many 1099's. This year I decided to go with an accountant out of fear that I will owe thousands. He just sent me this email: "The tax returns are in really good shape, we should review them to make sure everything is captured properly, and also to look for additional tax planning opportunities for you." Do you think he's implying I dont have to sell organs, sperm and blood to pay my taxes? or something else?

Well i got the call my 9mm YHM can for the AR has been approved. No word on the 45 and they were in the same envelope. Buying the 25 round AR-10 magazines might have brought me some luck, sort of. I have a line on a mildly used AR-10..supposedly an "A" CT AWB model. Im skeptical though. So either way I have mags. <laughs> FWIW locally prices are dropping fast. I think guys who dont have the stomach for whats coming are unloading the evil rifles. Seeing A LOT of AR's for sale. Only saw one priced crazy and thats the infamous Colt that is not marked "Sporter" or "AR-15". Its in fact the only legal Colt here in CT. Anyhow I saw one for $4000 and $3000. Might be one and the same though.

What are you putting these on? Not mixing AR-10 gas system with a DPMS weapon are you?

The Army’s XM25 Counter Defilade Target Engagement system has been removed from service after a training accident injured a soldier in Afghanistan early last month. A soldier was injured during a Feb. 2 live-fire training event during which the primer of a 25mm high-explosive air burst round ignited as a result of a double feed, according to Army spokesman Matthew Bourke. Although the primer and propellant were initiated, safety mechanisms prevented the round’s warhead from detonating. The gun was inoperable after the explosion. “The gunner training on the weapon system received superficial injuries,” said Bourke. “The gunner was medically evaluated and returned to duty.” The malfunctioning weapon was part of the latest batch of 12 prototypes sent into theater in January as part of the Army’s ongoing forward operational assessment of the XM25 CDTE system. To date, the system has been fielded for evaluation in small numbers to units in Afghanistan for approximately 18 months. This is the second XM25 malfunction resulting in primer and propellant initiation prior to the round being fully chambered and locked. The first involved an earlier prototype and resulted in no injuries. This latest XM25 design prototype features design revisions that addressed the cause of the prior malfunction. “Based on preliminary findings, the most recent malfunction occurred differently than the previous one,” said Bourke, “It’s also important to note that there were nearly 5,900 rounds fired between incidents.” The Army declined to identify the unit involved or the location of the incident citing operational security concerns. Alliant Techsystems, Inc (ATK) was awarded a $65.8 million contract in 2011 and another $18.8 million contract in 2012 by the Army’s PEO Soldier for engineering and manufacturing development of the XM25 Counter Defilade Target Engagement System. ATK is the prime contractor, systems integrator and ammunition provider for the XM25 program. Program partners include Heckler & Koch and L-3 Communications’ Integrated Optical Systems. ATK’s spokesperson referred all questions to Army Public Affairs. Prior to the accident, the XM25 was very popular among soldiers who dubbed it “the Punisher.” The head of PEO Soldier at the time, Brig. Gen. Peter Fuller, called it “a revolutionary weapon … a game changer.”

The U.S. Army has awarded the Olin Corp. the contract for its upcoming small-caliber ammunition needs, an order that is expected to see production run from now until August 2014. Production will take place at Winchester’s East Alton, Illinois, facility. This may be one of the last production runs of this type at Winchester’s Illinois plant, as they are currently in the process of moving their ammunition manufacturing facilities to Mississippi along with about 1,000 jobs. Winchester plans to be moved out of East Alton by 2016. Olin CEO Joseph Rupp said (.pdf), “During 2012, Olin achieved $373 million of adjusted EBITDA, which is the highest in the history of the company. The record EBITDA was driven by strong results in the Winchester business … As Olin enters 2013, we are optimistic that we can generate adjusted EBITDA in the range of $410 million to $440 million.” The announcement isn’t specific about what kind of ammo the Army is ordering, just that’s it’s small caliber. Hopefully this won’t affect the ammunition shortage felt across the U.S. Winchester, like all ammunition manufacturers the world around, is seeing a massive increase in ammunition sales, a product of the current American firearm market. Overall, Winchester’s earnings are up 27 percent over their 2011 numbers, with massive fourth quarter gains compared to the previous year. “Olin reported total fourth-quarter sales of $587.6 million, up 32 percent year over year, and a profit in the recent quarter of $34.6 million, up 85 percent from the fourth quarter of 2011.” “For full-year 2012, Olin’s net income was $149.6 million on net sales of $2.18 billion. Shipments to military customers in 2012 were comparable to the prior year,” company officials said. Winchester also announced that they will sponsor season three of Friends of NRA this year on the Outdoor Channel. The series follows professional shooter Jessie Duff as she documents the multi-million dollar grassroots NRA fund raiser. “Winchester is a recognized leader in supporting our hunting and shooting sports heritage and partnering with Friends of NRA demonstrates a strong commitment to our customers and the industry,” said Winchester’s Brett Flaugher.

They sure love to parade victims and families of victims around. i would love to see tv commercials featuring women and children "I was saved by an Ar15", "My family and I were saved by 12 shots from a Glock" etc Show kids playing and shit. Use their own tactics on them. Here in CT during recent hearings they made it a point to NOT call on certain individuals

I saw a lot of 17HMR at first but it's long gone. Yes .380 I missed that one. I thought 22-250 would be in abundance but it's not. I wonder if the manufacturers are dedicating all production to the big runners. I know some calibers like 32H&R magnum are only run once or twice per year. perhaps the case with some others as well.

One of the things I have been studying is what ammo is available locally while the common stuff is out of stock. My thinking is to incorporate a few weapons that I previously have not considered. 30-06 44 Magnum Are two to start I saw .22 magnum for a while but thats dried up

Maybe old news to some but I was taken off guard by the variteties of 308 PMAGs in the Magpul catalog. looks like good things coming to those who can buy them.
