irishbde Posted December 16, 2014 Report Posted December 16, 2014 I just bought a new Bushmaster XM-10 ORC (NY manf) . I've heard good and bad, but it was offered at an excellent price so I threw the dice. Up until this point my .308 semi auto rifle experience has been limited to the M1A which I love. I have a couple of questions for the group: Are there credible issues with these rifles I should look for as I break it in? Will standard AR parts like ALG triggers work with this rifle. Also, if it shoots halfway decent I will probably float the barrel with a new rail forearm I've read that DPMS forearms will work. Is that true? Thanks very much Gary
planeflyer21 Posted December 16, 2014 Report Posted December 16, 2014 Howdy Gary! Of the couple of people I know with the Bushmaster ORCs, neither have had any issues. Welcome!
unforgiven Posted December 16, 2014 Report Posted December 16, 2014 Welcome from Indiana brother Gary.
shibiwan Posted December 17, 2014 Report Posted December 17, 2014 (edited) It should run with no issues. It's basically a rebranded DPMS..... Oh yeah...welcome from AZ! Edited December 17, 2014 by shibiwan
irishbde Posted December 17, 2014 Author Report Posted December 17, 2014 Gracias amigos. So DPMS rail forearms should work on my rifle. I'll give you guys a full report in a couple of weeks. I just picked up a SWFA SS 30MM 1x-4x with an illuminated reticle. we shall see.
shibiwan Posted December 17, 2014 Report Posted December 17, 2014 They should work. Measure the thickness "tail" of the upper receiver before ordering. DPMS has fücked it up for some people with their "hi profile" and "low profile" uppers DPMS Low profile (left, about 1/8" thick, new) vs high profile (right, about 3/16" thick, legacy, but more common)
