Tommorw I'm expecting my upper parts to finish it this build. so far I weighed everything I have in this picture and it weighs 3.49lbs 2015-02-12_18.19.19_zps5zgxu3vu.jpg

As for the rest of the parts ups says total weight of 5.60 Idk how accurate that is but it puts me about at 9.1 lbs. I know I will be shaving some weight when I get a diffent handguard. Where ese could I cut weight?

Biggest saver of weight is in the barrel. Go LW profile like a Sionics, Odin SS, or Faxon.

Next area to save weight is the handguard. Nothing beats BCM's KMR (especially with Scarr's 7068 barrel nut).

Lastly, get an adjustable gas block so you can tune things to run well with a light buffer (and BCG if you choose to go that route).

My current LW build weighs in at 5lbs, 10oz and I could easily cut out another 1/2lb if I didn't require some as reliable parts (using VLTOR A5 system, for instance).

Already have my barrel and such part of what's coming in tommorw bcm light weight. So what do you reccomend for the lighter buffer and bcg.

I'm planning on running a 1x4 optic so that will add some weight if worse comes to worse I'll grow some balls and have a heavy rifle lol

That UPS estimate on the weight is high.  Don't worry about having a 9lb rifle until that upper comes in.  It won't be 9lbs, brother.

Yeah I'm hoping it's not to heavy I really liked the vortex 1x4 I looked through today had turrets like the pst so sweet.

Taccom3g makes a delrin buffer with a custom spring. That's probably the lightest on the market.

As long as doing this doesn't effect function and reliability. I think I have an h buffer Edited by Cali_Ed

I was gonna say 9# 556 sounds more like a .308.

I got a cheap digital scale/bathroom scale from Walmart when I started going to the gym. When I changed out the fore grips on my .308 I the scale to weigh that seemed to work well Id imagine your lighter than you think
