ironmonster
I just got a new AIM BCG in the mail so I thought I would post on the similarities and differences as well as a few pictures They are obviously not identical, but I think it's safe to say the major parts are made by the same folks. The finish is bright and shiny on the AIM and dull and modeled on the Aero ( the Aero uses the Fail Zero coating which I guess is not your standard NiB treatment). They are staked different, are using different gas key screws but I can't tell any physical differences between the bolt components. They both seem to be nicely made. I suspect the Fail Zero coating is better even though it's not as pretty but I think after seeing both it would be hard to justify an extra $90 for the Aero I have not shot either yet, I have a set of Go/No-Go gauges coming and after they show I'll check headspace on both and report back. I don't expect any issues with either.
survivalshop
Thanks for the review & photo's . I like the Gas Key Staking on the top BCG , Areo BCG ?
ironmonster
the one with the black gas key bolts is the Aero. They are actually both well staked. The Aero is better than it looks in the pic, it's kind of at a weird angle
ironmonster
I went into Rainer Arms tonight (If I really wanted to make you guys envious I could tell you Rainer is on my way home from work, But Im not that kind of guy so I wont) Anyway I stopped in and bought a Rainer 1/11 Select 18" 416SS barrel and had them check headspace to the AIM BCG. He said it looked like they where made for each other, liked the lug contact and was as good as it gets. So bonus there. ^-^

I have 2 Aero's but it is great to see that side by side. They definitely appear to have major components made by the same mfg. I mean, the finish is awfully close as well, as far as NiBor goes from what I have found but I could be wrong.
ironmonster
when you have them side by side its clear they have a different coating. I have two Aero's and two AIM's and when you throw them all out on the table its easy to pick out which are which. But yeah, I think its pretty safe to say that the major parts are made by the same shop. Which there is nothing wrong with, They both are good looking and well made. ironmonster
Just a word, The Aero had two O rings on the extractor spring. With both in place the extractor would not open enough to chamber a round. Not sure if they put two on there so you have a spare? At any rate it dont work with both :-)
