Bad Wolf Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 Recently I had ankle surgery and while moving some guns around I tripped and dropped a gun from about 3 feet up. No sure exactly how it landed but now I'm worried about the optics. Luckily its a Vortex Viper PST so if it is damaged they will take care of it. Should I be worried?
AngelDeVille Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 Shoot it and see if it kept zero. If it did, add another foot to each drop until it doesn't.
Bad Wolf Posted March 24, 2015 Author Report Posted March 24, 2015 Its brand new and never been fired.
blue109 Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 (edited) lol angel :D Edited March 24, 2015 by blue109
Microgunner Posted March 25, 2015 Report Posted March 25, 2015 I've always worried whenever I've dropped one. Unless it has a big dent in it you won't know until you try to zero it.
bubbasks Posted March 25, 2015 Report Posted March 25, 2015 Yank it off and check that the tube is still straight then get er zeroed and keeps zero. It will be obvious when your POI jumps over from shot to shot. Ask me how i know... lol
Bad Wolf Posted March 25, 2015 Author Report Posted March 25, 2015 (edited) Yeah there is no apparent damage, but it has just been one of those days. I don't believe there is any damage and I would hope its a better product than that, but there is no way to tell. Edited March 25, 2015 by Bad Wolf
Zebra644 Posted March 25, 2015 Report Posted March 25, 2015 It should be okay, if not send it in, Vortex has a hell of a warranty.
wetncold Posted March 25, 2015 Report Posted March 25, 2015 My Ruger with a Leupold scope was run over by a 4X4 Chevy. Still shoots under MOA.
survivalshop Posted March 25, 2015 Report Posted March 25, 2015 I had a friend drop my Nikon equipped Slug gun from a tree stand , about fifteen feet & it was a hair off when re-sighting & still use the scope . He was half asleep & late to go out & grabbed mine instead of his . I can't believe he even told me about it , I was out already , hunting with my 44 Mag.Handgun .
Bad Wolf Posted March 25, 2015 Author Report Posted March 25, 2015 It was either drop my gun or save my 22 month old. She crept up behind me and when I turned around I tripped on her, so gun or daughter.

Bad Wolf Posted March 25, 2015 Author Report Posted March 25, 2015 Tough choice.....mmmmmm.....you chose right. Same thought, lol. Bones heal scopes don't.
Zebra644 Posted March 28, 2015 Report Posted March 28, 2015 Same thought, lol. Bones heal scopes don't. You could always make another and it look just like her lol.
Bad Wolf Posted March 28, 2015 Author Report Posted March 28, 2015 (edited) You could always make another and it look just like her lol. One's (#3) cooking as we speak, lol. But got to the range today and the scope was perfect. Edited March 28, 2015 by Bad Wolf
Microgunner Posted March 28, 2015 Report Posted March 28, 2015 Good to hear and congratulations, but haven't you figured out what's causing those kids yet?
Bad Wolf Posted March 29, 2015 Author Report Posted March 29, 2015 (edited) Good to hear and congratulations, but haven't you figured out what's causing those kids yet? Thanks, I think it has something to do with the air to fuel mixture. We haven't got it down yet. But is sure is fun to practice. Edited March 29, 2015 by Bad Wolf
Bad Wolf Posted March 29, 2015 Author Report Posted March 29, 2015 Plus I've got to breed more gun lovers that can keep up the fight after I'm gone.
