wetncold Posted June 1, 2015 Report Posted June 1, 2015 Pic came from another board. Just trying to help him out. I have never seen this mark on a AR10 bolt. Not just Armalite, but any.
Robocop1051 Posted June 1, 2015 Report Posted June 1, 2015 Any additional info on the rifle? Was it a home build, or an off the shelf buy?
Robocop1051 Posted June 1, 2015 Report Posted June 1, 2015 Well, a little google-fu shows that it was likely a British AR10, that was sent to Portugal and then returned to GB. After the firearms returned to GB, they were stamped "Tormented" to show they had rigorously been tested. After the proofing the AR10's were shipped to North American, where gun laws allowed private ownership.
Robocop1051 Posted June 1, 2015 Report Posted June 1, 2015 The proof should also be on the barrel... near the barrel nut.
Robocop1051 Posted June 1, 2015 Report Posted June 1, 2015 It's quite a bit of AR10 heritage. It should be an original top charging AR10. Definitely a collectors item.
blue109 Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 Where's that canuckistanian gunsmitter when you need him?
Robocop1051 Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 BTW... The proof mark is a British crown over a "T"
Robocop1051 Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 It's GB's way of saying, "we issued this shiit out to our guys, they didn't fuckit up too bad, so we're selling it to civilians over the pond."
