GRA Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 (edited) For those of you that may not have heard ... According to a vendor I spoke with today at the gun show, the weekend of August 29, 2015 will be a tax-free weekend for guns and ammo purchases. I was informed this will be a weekend tax-free session, not simply a tax-free day. They were unsure if this also applied to internet sales. Just thought I'd pass this along as it is indeed great news. <thumbsup> Edited June 7, 2015 by GRA
98Z5V Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 1. What holiday is August 29th? Are you talking about Labor Day Weekend? 2. What venue is tax free then? Your gun show? Your state? The nation? 3. What vendor was it, by name, so we can call them and find out more details?
jtallen83 Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 There appears to be a new trend down south, I dropped a few dollars while working in Mississippi last year; Annual tax-free gun and ammo weekend now a reality in Mississippi; http://www.bizjournals.com/memphis/news/2014/04/03/annual-taxfree-gun-and-ammo-weekend-now-a-reality.html
GRA Posted June 8, 2015 Author Report Posted June 8, 2015 (edited) That's good. Hope it continues in the other states regardless of it occurring on a holiday weekend or not. I don't know why August 29th. was selected here but the vendor I spoke with said to call her back at the end of the week as she will be calling the Comptroller's Office. What was interesting is she pointed out how they have a layaway program for items in their current inventory. You can simply drop a downpayment and nail down the prices then right on the magical weekend go to the gun show and pay the balance and still avoid the taxes. The sale of course doesn't occur until you take possession of the item and that can be done at the gun show. Gun show venue will most likely be packed that weekend. Edited June 8, 2015 by GRA
