Hi im new to this forum. Im starting an ar 10 build. Im going to make it look as similar to a standard issue m110 as i can. My question is what is the exact rail length of the m110... i cant find a solid answer or description anywhere... my guess would be 12"...

There are builds here to copy or make near original M110 rifles , using KAC Receivers . You have to look around the Build section . In the photo's of an M110 & if thats a rifle gas system , that is a 12" rail .

Thanks guys. Yeah i checked out the wikipedia. Lots of good info there but it doesnt give the rail length. I figure it is 12" like you say survivalshop. I just want to be sure before i make a purchase you know?

I'm working on an M110 build as well.  I have the length written down, but it's not near me at the moment.  Off the top of my head, I would have guessed 12.5, but 12 could very well be correct as well.  Those numbers are definitely in the ballpark.

let me know if its 12.5 or 12 when you find where you wrote it down at beeks. also any opinions on particular rails you guys like that look like or similar to the knights armament rail on the m110 that doesnt cost an arm and a leg? lol

I don't know what they cost, but the ones used on the Armalite national match rifles are about as close as I've seen.  I forget all the mod numbers, but the Armalite is not like the first M110 version.

I'll check the length when I get a chance.

This is the half that I'm planning on making.  I purchased the lower half for a reasonable price.  The drawing shows 12.608 long, but I don't think that is exactly correct.  I figured it out by counting the slots in the rail that are made to mil spec standards.  The slots closest to the front aren't correct.  I figured I'd shorten this one after a test fit.  I would think it will end up in the 12.5 to 12.56 range based on appearances alone.

12.5" it is. Thats what ill plan on purchasing. I want to make sure i get it right because the gas block should be exposed but none of the gas tube. Gotta get it just right. If it ends up a touch long i suppose i could always hack a lil off it.
