I have used & shot so many Rem. 700 rifles & its sub types & never have I had or heard anyone talk about or say theirs went off with out pulling the Trigger.

Notice in this article that out of 7 Million rifles sold, only a little over 2,000 have filed claims , strange .

Out of that 7,000,000 rifles, a majority are sitting in safes or gun racks.  They were purchased and maybe shot a few times at paper, now resting and to be forgotten.

grandpa's/dad's/uncle bob's old hunting rifle.

I watched a "date line" type show on this 6-7 years ago went thru 4-5 cases of accidental discharge all from the 90's iirc. One was a father who shot and killed his son, it was all pretty sad but if they woulda followed their simple gun safety guidelines none of it would have happened.

And their is another thread where Tom and I are arguing over the trigger.

Remington executives knew six months into production that the trigger design was faulty. It would have cost $0.46 each to fix the triggers. The were cheap ! Now the fixes cost over a $100 plus shipping and handling. Plus time in the shop .

With their recent (last decade) Quality (lack of) Control, Remington probably just figured "Hell, we'll slide 'em all in next to the warranty returns and the QC department will never know!"
