A 50 year old shooter at the FOP range I shoot at, accidentally shot & killed himself yesterday while shooting at the range .

Fellow shooters found him lying on the ground & called 911.

I mostly shoot on week days & in the morning( like him ) & probably met him at some point .

I took Monday off to got to the meeting to see whats up, will keep all informed .

That is sad news.  Don't know what to really say, besides I hope the family will be strong.

Went to the meeting Monday to hear what happened & to see what after effects on the range .

Seems he was holstering a loaded ,Glock .40 into a shoulder holster & they think because the strap on the holster was snapped , that he tried to force the pistol in there ,with his finger still on the trigger & shot himself through the chest.

There are also testing being done to see if the trigger was modified.

They also said he still had a shot gun in his hand. (no free hands )Maybe practicing three gun ?

He did have prior military service.

Sad.

Me and a co-worker witnessed a guy blow up his gun at a local range.

He had too many guns laying out and 'chambered' a .308 round into a rifle

chambered in 25.06.

The bolt closed and all, but the ensuing explosion showed that he had an ammo mix up.

He and his girlfriend walked away though, thankfully, with just cuts and scratches.
