YWHIC Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 DPMS LR-308 with A3 Flat-Top. A2 Stock.. DPMS FF Tube w/vents.Hogue Pistol Grip, MBUS Rear, Midwest Ind Front Flip. MagPul Mags.DPMS Miculek Brake, Burris PEPR Quick Detach Model 8)Bushnell 4-12x40 Trophy XLT with 600 DOA (BDC) reticle & AO feature..(I had the scope and the BDC does work with HOT ammo 2850+ FPS)..The scope lens cap is just about RIDING the MBUS but the MBUS still has movement so it can't be that tight on it. <thumbsup>Using an almost KISS approach.. and my wallet thanks me..
98Z5V Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 I'm running that scope on my .308 Kimber bolt gun, and the scope mount on my 16" 5.56 gun - both those pieces are great. That's a nice build, man. <thumbsup>
YWHIC Posted May 4, 2011 Author Report Posted May 4, 2011 Thanks running under $1600 on a 308 is usually a good idea to-boot.Got about 200 rounds on the scope from my S308 using it prior to this being put onto here..checked @ 200 yards using the TAP and AMAX using ballistics charts and such... ranged @ 200 and shot right on point at 300 400 & 500 yard marks (at the 200 yard range)..
98Z5V Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 I'll say this for the PEPR scope mount - my 16" 5.56 gun won't fit in it's case with the scope on there, so I detach it everytime I pack up to go home. I remount it when I take it back out to the range, and it's still dead on. Next time I take it out again, I'll make a shoot for group size and see what I get - I'll report back in here with target pics. It's easily been on and off about a dozen times since I initially sighted it in. Next range trip I'll test it out for accuracy again and see what I come up with.Last time I had it out, it was still dead on versus the 300 meter steel silhouette. <thumbsup>
hobbesgunner Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 Nice lookin shooter....is that like the AP4 upper?? I'd like to get a short 308 upper to go with my LR 6.5. Yours looks like what I'm after........got a couple of those Burris mounts..really like em, clean lines, simple, strong mount. Haven't tried the on-off test yet but I bet they'd be awful close zero...
YWHIC Posted May 10, 2011 Author Report Posted May 10, 2011 It was called an A3 upper when I bought it..it has a LOW PROFILE gas block.. and the HG can be removed without taking the gasblock off if I had to.. its lower than the HG front sleeve..going to run some more rounds thru this weekend.. 8)I ended up putting a new Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40 and taking off the Bushnell.shot this @ 200 yards last weekend.. 1 5/8" for 10 shots..
98Z5V Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 I'd say that's a keeper - damn fine shootin', my good man. <thumbsup>
7.62fan Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 That's great shootn there! <thumbsup> Nice tight group at 200, have you tested for distance yet? It would be intresting to see how you group at 600. I wish I had those young eyes again. Keep it up!
YWHIC Posted May 11, 2011 Author Report Posted May 11, 2011 thanks folks..My 40+ year old +3 Astimatic eyes.. I just hold on REAL TIGHT.. LolI got 300 yards on my TX property.. may be able to go to the BLM land and stretch her out.. <thumbsup>
