I also recall reading a comment on SH, that another big reason semi's are used as often in PRS matches is that it's a (relative) PITA  and takes valuable time to lock the action open to transition between stations.

Yeah, Cal is really top notch in his technical testing, mostly objective analysis, and perspectives.  If you haven't read his other articles and reviews, do check them out.  Good stuff
