I think that these were originally made to go a survey transit scope maybe like in a underground mine?   Looks like it would be the cat's meow for extra long range bullet lobbing. get out the calculator.

Little computers these days brother 👍 same principal used in making an offset. As long as you have 2 pieces of information you can cipher the 3rd.
