NightStalker Posted November 22, 2019 Report Posted November 22, 2019 With a mid length gas system, what length HG barely covers the gas block. I’m thinking 13 in but not sure I don’t need a lot of rail and want to keep it somewhat lite for mobility.
SgtDog0311 Posted November 22, 2019 Report Posted November 22, 2019 I was wondering if a guy had an adjustable gas block would he need it exposed for adjustments. I've not tackled a build yet so that is obviously a novice question. Could be they are adjustable through the access inherent with the HGs.

I have several adjustable blocks that are buried, just careful to use one that can be worked from the front with an extended tool. I have one I can worm my way in on the side but that is not as handy as a long tool from the front. I worry about it less and less, find that after the initial adjustment I rarely have the need to re-adjust.
SgtDog0311 Posted November 23, 2019 Report Posted November 23, 2019 Thanks JT. I think I am down to two. Have not researched this faxon yet, i.e., would like to know if they have a bolt to sell with it. https://faxonfirearms.com/faxon-18-big-gunner-profile-ar10-barrel-308-win-nitrided/#product-reviews The other is the AERO BA 20" CMV offering now back in stock (or was a minute ago). The Faxon would make a 9lb out of an otherwise 10lb rifle, no mag or scope. Just iron sights in that weight.
SgtDog0311 Posted November 23, 2019 Report Posted November 23, 2019 geeze, did I get lost and plunk that down in the wrong thread!
