RAH
I finally decided to shoot a DPMS Oracle LR-308 that I bought new several years ago for the very first time today. I have an AR Stoner 5 round magazine, the stock 10 round DPMS magazine and a Brownell 20 round magazine. I tried all three magazine and when I pull the trigger it sounds like the firing pin is doing its thing, but there is no dent in the primer; when this happens, it is all I can do to pull the charging handle back to extract the unfired round. With no magazine in the gun and when I manually install one bullet at at time, it fires every time. The charging handle seems to function normally except when I am trying to extract an unfired round that came from the magazine. I read through the 19 pages of discussion topics and I didn't see a topic that seemed to be the same as this. If anyone has run into this and can provide me with some guidance, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks.
shooterrex
Lube the hell out of the BCG and keep shooting. Your breaking in parts that need LOTS of lube.

What we often mean by "lube the hell" out of it is soak it in Mobil 1 overnight. Remove it from the oil in the morning and let most of the drips flow off of it. Slap it back in the rifle and go shoot. Don't wipe it off. You want oil seeping out of every space and orifice as your shooting. Take some oil along and if it quits seeping add more. These big guys need LOTS of oil to get all those new parts to mate together smoothly.

RAH
Thanks everyone for your suggestions, I will soak it in Mobil One tonight, meanwhile I took the BCG apart this weekend and put a lot of lube on it. It now works fine with the Brownell and stock DPMS magazines and if I slam the AR Stoner one into it, it will now cycle too. I'm trying to use it for deer hunting among other things this year and I will order a Magpul 5 round magazine and try it. I really appreciate your comments! Thanks!
