Geared Towards Gear

What's out there?

When I was a kid, there was tons of web gear surplus from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.  Just about everything had the double hook that attached to eyelets on a web belt.

Over the years came the nylon stuff...nylon with velcro, buckles, and loops.  The pinnacle seems to be the current issue MOLLE gear.

What are you using?

Militarily, my gear of choice was Tactical Tailor, going all the way back to the mid-90s.  By the late 90s, I was using as much of it as I could.  From the early 2000s, all I used was the MAV 2-piece vest setup.

Since that gear always worked so well for me, I still currently run that rig, but the MAV 1-piece now.

If I need more than that, I've got a padded belt setup (that's all I use when just shooting handguns - no vest necessary for that stuff).  The med bag is on there most of the time, but I sometimes change it out for a Maxpedition Roly Poly.

I have an eclipse/BAE RBAV (similar to a CIRAS). Mostly VTAC and Tactical Tailor pouches. The armor gets hot and heavy.

(sorry, it's an old pic)

I've been knocking around the idea of a TAG vest recently. Either a "phalanx" model or a "gladiator". The phalanx is universal for mag pouches, but i like the gladiator design a bit more (for the AR15).
