Czgunner
I've always just full length sized brass to be used in my semi auto guns. Does anybody attempt to just shoulder bump with the 308AR? If so how much?
Sisco
Nope. I have always full sized my 308 ammo. Because I owned a pump for a while, I always full sized my 30-06 ammo as well. That was the recommendation early on and I never saw any reason to argue it.
dpete
Full length sizing is standard with autoloaders. The violence of the loading process from the mag requires that wee bit of extra clearance.
NF1E
I use an RCBS SB X die for most of my .308 cases whether they will be used in an auto loader or bolt. Nice to be able to use the same ammo and I have not noticed any appreciable difference in accuracy. Whatta Hobby!

What you're referring to is neck sizing. As a rule, it's only done for brass that will be fired in the same bolt action it was originally fired in, and is done to get the most accuracy possible out of that particular gun. It's definitely not recommended for semi auto firearms. Edited November 6, 2023 by 392heminut
