Jeff300
Paired together a LaRue complete upper 16” barrel with a BCM complete lower. First shoots today and for 2 different manufacturers this thing fits together very nicely. I have changed some parts, took the birdcage flash hider off and put on a VG6 Epsilon, and a Radian charging handle and selector. for the glass I did this combo, that’s a 3x magnifier. I shot 2 factory loads a 73gr Federal otm and a Speer 75gr gold dot sp. To be fair these shots with the Federal load are the very first shots from the barrel and sighting in the red dot. But I like that gold dot load. Put them both across the Caldwell crony. Sighted in at 36yds, Federal was up first, was happy to hit the lunchbag with the first shot. I shot the targets before I did the crony. The rest was a death grip tripod. I know what you’re thinking 4&5 of the Speer load, sometimes I get lucky. Lots of heart beats in those groups. LoL That’s was a good day. Thanks for letting me share this afternoon’s adventure.

Jeff300
My first set up with one, have a few red dots but mostly lpvo’s. Having fun learning with it and these 2 paired together nicely.

That’ll happen soon enough. Have some 68gr & 77gr smk’s I am looking forward to reloading for it. If you have a favorite load I’m all ears. shooterrex
I know several folks around here using Varget and 24-25.5 grains with the 68 gr match kings.

Lake City NATO brass, 75gr Hornady HPBTs, CCI 41 primers and 24.2 grains of RL-15 has been my go-to load for years. Gets me 2789 fps from an 18" barrel. You'll see that Varget and RL-15 are almost direct replacements for each other. You can generally take someone else's RL-15 load, use Varget, and it's safe to shoot, won't hurt you, and will be damn, damn close to identical. Same goes the other way, take a Varget recipe, substitute RL-15, and you'll be fine and safe, and it'll work great. Might need to tweak a tenth of a grain here or there, but it'll work for testing, and might just work great enough not to mess with.

Jeff300
So made up some reloads for this rifle and loaded up the work wagon and went down the road to some state land. Yes it was raining and the humidity was high for this area but, a good morning none the less. I tried 2 powders Varget and Benchmark under 69gr smk hpbt. I heard benchmark was versatile and wanted to try it. In the end I’ll try these 2 and see what happens. 36yds and no red dot adjustments from first sighting in session. NT means neck tuned/turned. I’m at about 80 rounds through this barrel, oil patch pulled through after every 5 round group. Hope you all had a great weekend and a good week ahead.
