98Z5V
Very nice. <thumbsup>I've been having good luck with their 75gr BTHPs in the 5.56 guns. Love 'em.
MikedaddyH
I made up a box of the Hornady Match 168gr BTHP #30501 with the amp jackets and shot it at over 700 yards it is a accurate bullet. I still have 80 rounds left made with Varget, Superformance & H414. I have used these in the 20" and 24' guns.I also had a box of the #30502 that i used a while ago, it had 43.0gr of Varget and Win WLR primers. Wasted it on 2ltr bottles. 98Z5V
23.7 gr Varget in Lake City brass, CCI 41 primers through the 20" 1:7 gun. <thumbsup>Haven't tried them through the 18" 1:8 gun yet, need to load more up. I've got some 69 SMKs that will probably perform better through that one.

survivalshop
WC
seasprite
Don't know anything about wc846 do you plan on choreographing it? I'm curious to what kind of numbers your getting out of your 20" barrel vs. the CFE 223 out of my 16".
392heminut
Is WC 846 the same powder as the pulldown 846 that Wideners sells?
survivalshop
Is WC 846 the same powder as the pulldown 846 that Wideners sells?Yes & no , the WC846 that you get now is pull down powder . I got 32#s well over twenty years ago & it was surplus powder. I'm down to my last 8 # keg. & will probably buy more , it seems to work for all my Military type rifles. The problem with it is from lot to lot , they change & you have to tweek your loads for the change.I will chrono my 16" along with my 20" with these loads , I need the info & trigger time with the 16" any way . I will also be chrono'ing loads ( with the same WC 846 ) in my 24" HB , 5.56 AR 15 , I just got a new scope for ,probably Friday moring. 392heminut
Thanks Survivalshop, that info helps. If they are basically the same powder and your getting that kind of performance from the stuff you have then the stuff Wideners sells should work okay for me. I'm basically looking at loading plinking ammo for shooting out to no more than about 200 yards.
survivalshop
I had a good four hr. range session & I was alone at the 100 yrd. range all day , what's with that?I tested three 168 gr. Hornady match bullet configurations , seven 5.56 & two 300 BLK configurations & with writing down all the info off the Chrono , took all that time . Here's how the 168's did from my 20"LC brass all test ammo , CCI primers , COL 2.799", all hand weighed charges /with digital scale.39 gr. WC84623352432242424242423avg. fps- 2408ES-------97 SD ------ 3639.5 gr. WC 84624872497247824772479avg. fps .---2484ES----------20SD --------- 840 gr. WC 84624622451249424512475avg. fps. ----2467ES -----------43SD -----------16I'm showing the beginning of pressure signs on the primer with the 40 gr. but would like to see how WW & Remington brass do , with this loading .When I shoot @ 200 yrds next, I'm going to shoot off some sand bags , to see just how good this bullet performs , with out me being the rear anchor & not off the bipod on a wood bench.I had some real interesting results on the 5.56 test ammo , good enough to start another thread & when I go over the data ,I will start one . MikedaddyH
Now you need to buy some 165gr ballistic tipped bullets, those destroy 2L bottles like no other !So the chrono works , with out problems ?
seasprite
The 39.5 looks pretty good on the es & sd numbers you decide on your charge yet?
survivalshop
Yes the 39.5 gr. does look like a wining combo , want to see how it does in commercial brass.I know the Remington brass does real well at that loading .I want to see how WW & FC do after weighing & sorting them. I also have different primers to try .I also need to get more SMK bullets, to compare. With my testing on the 5.56/.223 I did with this session , the bullet manufacturer or what kind of bullet , makes a big difference in a lot of things, vol. , ES & SD .
