6132expert Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 Now I really feel like an dumb ass. I have always been hesitate about buying ammo at gun shows. Well when I got these last two XD 40s I bought a box and today as I was filling the 9 round clip I notice out of a whole box of brass there is two nickle shells so I inspect a little more and the whole damn box is mixed reloads. Now I am affraid to fire them! They are probably way under powdered but who knows. What to do? <dontknow>
Guest LLArms Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 My personal rule of thumb is I never fire something that is not either reloaded by myself or by a reputable company who manufacturers reloads. (like Atlanta Arms & Ammo for example).I can't imagine using some random hill billy's reloads in my guns. :o
planeflyer21 Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 Gun shows used to be pretty cool...old people selling all sorts of neat things, certain vendors with very unique offerings, you could actually trade and wheel and deal. Then they seemed to all gravitate towards tack-T-cool everything. Then they jacked admission prices and started charging for parking, so I quit going.I shoot other people's reloads IF I know the people...and they shoot them first. Not too keen on purchasing reloads from others.Just my $1.95 (inflation, look around).Jon
6132expert Posted June 21, 2012 Author Report Posted June 21, 2012 Well good point. The happen to be in a Atlanta Arms box. Does Atlanta Arm ship out mixed boxes of brass or do they try to make them the same in a box?My personal rule of thumb is I never fire something that is not either reloaded by myself or by a reputable company who manufacturers reloads. (like Atlanta Arms & Ammo for example).I can't imagine using some random hill billy's reloads in my guns. :o
Guest LLArms Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 Ive never had any problems with AA&A... weird
survivalshop Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 Packaging means nothing , unless its sealed to begin with. I doubt they would mix brass/nickel cases, shoot at your own risk !
NoFail Posted June 22, 2012 Report Posted June 22, 2012 I'm going to a show on Saturday and will get ammo. Ammo components, that is, so I can do it myself. Mostly I want more brass because its hard around here to find brass. I hope they gots good brass in .308
unforgiven Posted June 22, 2012 Report Posted June 22, 2012 One of the guys at the show by me said sometimes the counts are light on ammo, especially shotgun ammo. <dontknow>
