jdub229r
Guys - I just installed a Spike's nickle boron battle trigger & 3.5 lbs yellow JP springs in my BM ORC 308. It's a huge improvemnet over stock (8 lbs). I read before that the yellow springs might cause light primer strike issues with steel case. Anyway, I was in fact getting light primer strikes - Hornady steel match (Wolf cases) went off 4 out of 5 times & Monarch steel case (Barnaul) were 2 for 5. My question is; can I leave the lighter weight yellow trigger spring & just change the hammer spring to the Spikes. Will that make a diffence or is it recommended? Should I just put the springs in that came with the Spikes? I wasn't expecting the Spike's to be a match trigger; only that it would be smoother than stock - which is what it is. racerken70
off the jp website,3-3.5 pound trigger pull for competition/recreational use. Kit includes yellow color coded trigger and hammer spring. ■ 3.5-4.0 pound trigger pull for enhanced reliability and provides good ignition reliability with any ammo. The red hammer spring with yellow trigger spring is also the minimum required for a 308 AR-10 set up. ■ 4-4.5 pound for police duty, military or any application in which 100% ignition reliability is demanded with low sensitivity primers or a heavier release is demanded by LE department requirements. May also be used for 308 AR-10 set ups. Kit includes grey hammer spring with yellow trigger spring. ■ 4.5 pound for CMP service rifle competition. edgecrusher
judging by what ken said, i would defininately run the red hammer spring, if not the grey. give it a try and let us know
jdub229r
Looks like JP's site indicates that using the other springs on a normal trigger won't help much. I'll leave the yellow trigger spring in; I've got 3 different hammer springs in my parts bin that I can try to see if they give me a decent pull & still work. I'll post the results after my next range trip. Thanks in advance!
moagm316
As a general rule I run the Yellow Trigger and Red Hammer for all of my setups. I find that it works excellently well.
survivalshop
My Spikes NB fire control system works fine with the springs came with it , on a 308 rifle. It has dropped trigger pull weight each time I shoot it . Its at 5 3/4 # pull from 6 1/4# when first installed .
