finally received my Mega Monolithic

after the big Mega buy out of a few weeks ago I went on a search for a Mega Set that I could afford. I did not find just a set, but I did find a unfired build that was close to what I wanted to build so I bought it.

here are the details:

Mega Mono upper and lower set -I did get the box and wrench.

Dpms LPK

Rainer select 16 inch SS barrel

Dpms 308 flash hider

Dpms chrome BCG

AR15 Magpul UBR stock

Dpms CAR buffer and spring

MOE grip

Magpul gen 1 BUIS

first 2 things I want to do is change to black furniture and I am open to what stock because of the second item. I want a heavier Buffer. the Dpms is just not heavy enough from what I read and I dont want to spend 100 just on the buffer.

I was thinking of going to the PRS and using a rifle buffer and spring .  (suggestions?)

Waiting on my PRS right now, have a JP SCS buffer/spring to put into it.  Havent completely assembled yet, aas I didnt have the tube/stock yet.  Will be doing a writeup of the build once we get this hurricane out of the way (in the natl guard, so am sitting in central LA right now waiting to see what's next).  I have opened a buffer and added weights to my service competition rifle for practice sessions, but that's 223, and it worked fine. Not sure if it'd be ideal long term, only put a couple thousand r ounds through it with that midified buffer in it.  Used a combination lead/bismuth shot (for reloading shotshells, had it lying in the shop) melted into crayons so it was a solid slug.  Just layered it into the buffer, with a lot of shot, and a little melted crayon wax.  Easily removed if it doesnt work out, or if you want to adjust the weight.  Just a thought.  Im by no means an expert, and some of these guys have a LOT more experience than me, and might have better options for you.

Hi Zog    dont believe what you read...believe what you know....so on the buffer/buffer spring shoot the gun first before you go changing things around....all of my Mega 308's work just peachy with the stock buffer....on two of my Megas I used Tubbs flatwire buffer springs in my car stocks and that worked very nice :)  Wash
